Hi,
The most part of downtown restaurants are open. Traditionally people have dinner with their relatives at home, but if you're going to have dinner in restaurant, it's recommended to make a reservation, at least 15 days before the date. There are hotels that organized special dinners with party until the morning of the following day, they require smart clothing. In relation to bars, a lot of then are open in the following zones: San Miguel, Cantarranas, Catedral, Paraiso... A few of them are crowded, but not all. People begin to arrive bars at 1 AM. That night bars close at 7 AM. Discos in general have special parties (called "cotillones"). For them you need previous reservation and wearing smart clothing.
In Spain, the tradition for receiving the New Year is eating 12 grapes with the chiming of the bells of a clock at 12. The most important clock is Puerta del Sol in Madrid, but also you can have them in Mayor Square at Valladolid. Shops are open in New Year's Eve, but they don't in New Year Day

Travel Tips for Valladolid

Cosmopolitan city

by micas_pt

I found Valladolid quite a cosmopolitan city, compared to other capitals of Castilla y León's provinces such as Salamanca, Segovia, Zamora or Ávila. It is a bigger city than those I mentioned - around 320.000 inhabitants - and seems to have bigger economic activity, such as services, more commerce and more leisure activities. Still, Valladolid is more than modern buildings - along the city many beautiful styled buildings may be seen, and some of them visited. Valladolid is a beautiful city by the river to visit during the day and to enjoy at night, as there are so many options to go out and have fun.

National Sculpture Museum

by lbhspatriot

For one of the world's most impressive collections of polychrome art, visit the Museo Nacional de Escultura (National Sculpture Museum) in the San Gregorio College. The building itself is a magnificent piece of architecture with an extravagant interior and cool gargoyles. It houses priceless sculptures from the 15th and 16th centuries to modern art. It contains religious figures carved and painted by some of Spain's greatest artists of the time, most of which where donated or deposited the the Spanish Museum of Culture.

Wine tasting

by -deja.Ismael

Valladolid is placed in a wine producing area. This includes the red wines of Ribera de Duero (perhaps the best ones of the world, with permission of Rioja ones) and Medina, the white ones of Rueda, and the pink ones of Cigales.

You can't come, and not tasting them.
