I am planning a trip for 100plus architects/designers to Valladolid
by HelenaTroy
The aim of the is trip is (predominantly) to visit the site of a building we have recently designed. I am looking for suggestions of what to do with them, there will of course be the usual tours of castles and the local Gothic architecture and a trip to the wine museum (so far so predictable!). What I was thinking of was suggestions of different things to do, e.g. given the city's links with film , perhaps a cinema Paradiso type experience (I am drawing a blank with this via the normal channels). Recommendations of restaurants in perhaps unusual surroundings that could take 120 (aprox) architects/designers with an eye for detail and an appetite for good food. Suggestions for other activities e.g I am looking at Kayaking on the Duro, horse riding and that sort of thing. There has been lots of talk of the fact that the city was once the capital of Spain and that the Spanish language apparently originated there. In a nutshell I am interested in as many tips and anecdotes that you can let me have.
if there are any members from the area with a design background who would be willing to be interviewed by me for the booklet to accompany this trip that would be amazing too!
Thank you thank you thank you in advance
Elaine

Hi,
Although the façade of San Pablo church is being renovating and under scaffolding, there is an elevator that lets people watch it closer: http://www.fundacioncajamadrid.es/Fundacion/Comunes/fun_cruce/0,0,72097_1727093*72095,00.html
I suppose that it would be a good idea for the architects.
For restaurants, I recommend you, "La Parrilla de San Lorenzo", at Pedro Niño Street: http://www.mesalibre.com/ficha/restaurantelaparrilladesanlorenzo
You can make kayak activities in "Las hoces del Duratón" in river Duraton: http://www.naturaltur.com
If you want to know routes in Valladolid town, ask for them in the Council email: 010@ava.es

I have found a web site where you can contact to personal tour guides: http://www.asomateavalladolid.org/ Look for "tour guides" at the left-side menu.
Also, at that web site there is an email of the main tourist office in Valladolid: turismo@valladolidturismo.com I suppose they can help you
Travel Tips for Valladolid
Where is everybody...
by belgianchocolate
It was a holiday when we arrived.
The city was empty...except for one place.
The parc 'campo grande' seemed to have
turned into a low ^profile attraction parc.
We saw this crowed near the central lake.
When we came closer there was this
popey character with a boat with a lot of children.
There was talking and waving...
he seemed to entertain the whole crowd.
>Finally the children said goodbey to mum
and dad. A last kiss...
AND THE BOAT LEFT FOR THE TOUR
ROUND THE FOUNTAIN. ;-)
The church of Santa Cruz
by benidormone
This church is also the museum of easter. It was built at the end of the XVI century during the time of greater economic and social splendor of the city. It was built according to the plans of Felipe of the Cajiga. Nowadays the rich histórico artistico patrimony of the riosecana Easter can be seen here.
A walk along the Pisuerga river
by benidormone
Starting at Las Moreras beach you can have a very nice walk along the Pisuerga river. You can see all the different bridges. When you reach the new footbridge of Calatrava, you can cross the river and make a visit to the new science museum.
