It is a known fact that most of the towns in Spain are built around their Plaza Mayor, however Valladolid's square was the first in Spain! Still looks amazing with the unusual colour of buildings and lots of bars and cafes to keep you entertained.
Every January, there is a meeting near Valladolid (Tordesillas & Boecillo) of motorbike lovers. It is considered to be the biggest one in Europe. You should bring winter clothes. January can be rather cold, here.
This square dedicated to the famous writter is a key square in the city. It is where the Paseo de Zorrilla starts (the bigest avenue in the city). Also the Academia de Caballeria is here and the Campo Grande (Central Park).
The fountain is not just a fountain but a clock. You will notice that watter is divided in three groups. The first one is very high, the second not so much and the third are quite small.
The groups indicate hours, minutes... It is easy to discover how it works!!! Try!!!
We stayed just one day in Valladolid while travelling by car in Castilla y León. We visited it by the end of March, when it was still very cold and we both got a huge cold. When we arrived in Valladolid, I must confess I was not in the mood of walking in the cold, windy streets and taking too many photos. We just made a quick walking around in the city centre - Plaza Mayor -, and then browsed the city streets by car, which felt so much more comfortable on that cold weather. Unfortunately I don't have many tips on what to see and do while walking across the city. I decided to build this small page because we both enjoyed the hotel and restaurant a lot, so I hope those few tips will be helpful for someone else.
