Positively Charming

Clara and her husband Joan Luis have created a simple, elegant environment within the historic beauty of their hotel, Aiguaclara. It is situated in the heart of Begur so walking everywhere in this special area of the world is easy. We had everything we needed. A fresh breakfast was served in the morning and an honor system for the bar, coffee, and snacks was set up for when the dining room was closed. Our room was a generously sized suite with at least 12 foot high cielings with nicely appointed white washed furniture, and the lighting, small chandeliers added a sparkle to the ambience. Beds were very comfortable and linens were white cotton. Floors were tile. Towels in the large bathroom were warm from a heater. We had a TV and listened to BBC world news. A laptop situated in a cozy seating area downstairs was availalbe too for keeping in touch. We would return in a heartbeat.

We just returned from spending two nights at this lovely inn in Begur. The owners Joan and Clara were super friendly. Upon our check in Clara provided us with lots of information about the local area, maps, booklets, and advice on where to eat. Given that we were there in the off season it was great to have her advice on what was open and where to grab a bite.
The rooms were very modern and recently redone. It was great to have the lounge downstairs to check Internet and listen to music or read. Breakfast was included in the lovely attached restaurant with a great assortment of breads, pasteries, meats and cheeses. I would recomend this hotel highly. It really added to our Spain experience.
Begur was a lovely little town with easy access to costa brava beaches and Girona.
Excellent Hotel

Myself & my wife stayed 4 nights in this hotel and it was excellent. We stayed in the junior Suite room 9 what was a very good room, the room had a large bathroom with a good bath and shower a seating area and a large bedroom. The bed was Kingsize with good pillows which allowed for a good nights sleep.
Joan the owner was on hand everyday to give us tips on were to eat and visit. If you like your food then I can highly recommend the hotels restuarant that serves excellent food. We had the taster menu which was 10 courses of excellent standard and I would say easily Michelin star quality.
Breakfast was also good with meats, cheeses, breads etc to choose from.
The so called chill out room was nice and allowed us to have a night cap or two!
Overall if you like your hotel to have a old feel to it but with modern things like Wi Fi then I can highly recommend this hotel.
If I had to pick fault with anything it would have been nice to have coffee/tea within the room. Oh and you can here the church bells ringing on the hour but you just seem to get used to them and are part of charcter of the town.

Lovely hotel, outgoing & friendly owners. Loved the room and decor. Buffet breakfast high quality, my only gripe would be that I had to ask for a second cup of coffee, it should be offered.

This is the hotel that can really advertise itself "as at home" or "as at friends". Very nice and cozy and full of details. Friendly atmosphere in terms of people and the real estate.
We stayed there one night in the beginning of March. It was extremely stormy outside and it was a blessing to stay inside in such a cozy place.

Excellent Hotel

This is an extremely interesting and unique hotel.
Huge well-heated rooms - clean and comfortable with great views.
Extremely hospitable staff.
Excellent restaurant.

Superb hotel excellent and warm welcoming

We stayed here on the 11th of march 2008 and cannot fault anything about this charming hotel,
We were greeted by Joan (Johan) the owner, who helped us with our bags to our rooms and showed us around the hotel and recommended us a wonderful restaurant (The Mas Comangau) which was just down the road as the hotel restaurant was not open during the week this early on in the season.(except for breakfast).
Our rooms were fantastic with such character, as was the rest of the hotels lounge, courtyard and chill out rooms with trust bars, internet and Wifi.
In the afternoon we walked around the town of begur which is also full of character and a real gem of the Costa Brava. with its amazing hill top views along the coast to its medievil well kept narrow streets.
In the evening we met Clara (Joans wife) who was just as helpful and friendly as Joan and she recommended another superb restaurant for our evening meal which was just a stones throw away from the hotel.
We will come back and will definitly stay at the Aiguaclara.
Chic in Begur

Great location in the centre of Begur from where there are great walks and views of the coast. The hotel is charming and very friendly and the hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were large, airy - "shabby chic" - we loved it! Would go back again.
Quality on Costa Brava

Quality hotel with great restaurant. Nice friendly service from owners who take great care to make your stay a special experience. The free internet and honesty bar make for a home away from home and each room has a unique feel. Plenty of interesting art. Go for the great food and the overall experience of a small classic house located in the middle of an interesting village within 5 minutes of the coast.

We loved this hotel. Joan and Clara were extremely helpful and welcoming.The hotel oozes character. Wehad room no.10 which has neither terrace nor balcony but it is right at the top of the hotel and the views are sensational. One window looks out over the town and the castle (floodlit at night) from the other you can see the sea and the pyrenees.
You are left to your own devices at night ,there is a chill out room with honesty bar which leads out on to an enclosed patio- wonderful! Breakfast great. Would encourage anyone to stay here.
