Barcelona in November

by indig0

Hello,

I am planing to go in Barcelona from 21th till 26th of November.
Si my questions is how is usually the weather in that time of the year? I am going with my girlfriend and i am planing to be around city all day/night long, going back in the hostel just for sleeping :)So is it cold ?
Other questions is if you know where can i find hostels, if possible near the center.

Thanks a lot!

It says a lot about the temperature in Barcelona that it has an outdoor Cactus Park (the only one in Europe I think). Cacti are not noted for enjoying freezing weather :-)

I've been to Barcelona in February and it was very pleasant. In Europe it tends to be cooler after new year so you should be fine there in November.

(Then cactus park is at Montjuic - and is well worth a look!)

Travel Tips for Barcelona

Barcelona History

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

It is considered, that Barcelona was established by Hamilkar Barka - the father of Gannibal in the III-rd century before Cristmas. In the II-nd century the Carfagenian settlement was grasped by Romans who named their new colony Barcino.
The first fortifications were built in the IV-th century.

More art!

by TracyG

Check out the art around the city center, and in some of the galleries. Barcelona has some of the best art in the world, and it would be a shame to visit here without seeing any of it. I really miss all the of the free art around the city center.

Tortilla a la EspaƱola

When I was first offered a potato omelet, I wasn't too sure, but at the same time, I had been on the train all evening and I would have eaten just about anything if you gave it to me. To my surprise, I loved it!

9 eggs
1 kg. potatoes
1/4 litre oil
salt
1 onion (finely chopped)

Peel the potatoes and cut into slices. Heat oil in frying pan and fry the potatoes over low heat (the finely chopped onion can be fried at the same time). Beat the eggs, add salt and pour into frying pan. Wait until it sets and turn over with the help of a plate.

Drinking At The Game

One thing that I was very surprised by on my visit to the Nou Camp, was that we were able to purchase and consume alcohol at the ground. Call me old fashioned, but in England that is absolutely unheard of, and I can only assume that they don't get a lot of crowd trouble in Spain. It was nice to able to enjoy a beer (reasonably priced I might add) whilst watching an incredibly high standard of football.

If time allows, you should...

If time allows, you should take a trip to Montserrat. It's just about an hour outside of Barcelona and can be reached by taking the metro and connecting to the Ferrocarrils. The ride on the funicular is included in the price of the train ticket.
If you can, you should try to visit the monastery on Sundays, that's when the choir boys perform their chanting with the monks. It's sort of like a highlight of the monastery and it attracts lots of people there (especially locals) on that day.
