Luggage Question - Staying in Le Meridien

by karimi1

Will be staying at Le Meridien, which is 12 Km from airport. I have a 5 day stop over in Barcelona. Travelling with 2 kids (party of 4) will have 8 bags with me (50 lbs each).

I was wondering if I will be able to transport the bags with me to hotel, if vans are available for transportation at airport (How much will it cost)
or
Do I need to store the bags at airport lockers (large ones), which will cost me around EUR150 (6 bags and 5 days).

Thanks

There are van-taxis and they cost the same as a normal taxi, but you may have to wait a bit to get one. Read this to know how to proceed:
http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/faq/questions/127/Van-Taxis-At-Barcelona-Airport%3F

If you don't want to wait maybe you can you split your party in two taxis(1 adult and 1 kid on each). Even this will be much cheaper than leaving the bags at the airport, each taxi must cost no more than 30€

Or, you can ask for a quota for a van waiting for you, I've used this company for business: www.barcelonataxivan.com (well, it's sister company Taxi Mercedes, I never needed a van). There are others but I don't know their details.

Hi,

Just to add to Belsaita's post. With a normal taxi there is a supplement of 1€ for every bag that goes in the trunk, though a van may not have a trunk as such I would guess the supplement will still apply (so depending on the size of your bags it may be more than 30€ if you are charged for all 8)

"Barcelona Es Teva" - Barcelona Belongs to You

Apparently if you drink from the fountain of Les Canaletes you fall under the City's spell and are sure to return. Well I didn't even have a sip but I am still under the spell and will definitely return (Maybe they put it into the bottled water).

Barcelona had everything I like in a City, and as any great destination it left me wanting more. I thought I had an itinerary that would cover it all. I came up short.

What will I do on the next trip? Well I'll want to see the famous buildings lit up at night. Check to see what's new at the Sagrada Familia. Explore Montjuic far more. See more of Gaudi's less well known buildings. See more of the beach and the beautiful Mediterranean. Visit the magnificent Nou Camp stadium, I had to miss it this trip, even though football is my passion. I was with a friend who hates football and I promised not to.

We saw a small guy with a moustache on La Ramblas dressed in a white waiter suit, black bow tie and carrying a tray. He was looking around shouting "Basil, Basil". I remember watching Fawlty Towers when I was a child and the look on everyones faces when they explained that "he's from Barcelona".

I didn't realise at the time just how lucky Manuel was, to come from Barcelona.

This building is a museum called La Pedrera. At the time we saw a huge Marc Chagall exhibition inside. The architecture is based on sea forms, with the wrought iron like seaweed and underwater plantlife and the waves of the water represented by the white, stone, organic walls.

Monastery of Montserrat.

If u are fond of hiking and mountains, this trip is for u.U will enjoy that place very much.It.s situated quite close to Barcelona and it takes just 1hour to get there. From Barcelona u have to take train R5 from Plaza Espana(by metro u can get there)t Monistrol de Montserrat.and it's better to take ticket to Cremallera de Montserrat. Both ways it cost 12 euro.

The best view of the Sagrada Familia

by jamiema

I'm sure that anyone who's visited Barcelona has been there, and those that are planning to go have thought of it already; the Sagrada Familia, the church of the Sacred Family, generally considered one of Barcelona's greatest artworks and still in progress after more than a century of work. However, for those looking for the perfect camera angle to capture the magical facade and soaring pinnacles of the towers, forget simply standing in front of it; all you'll get is a hideous detail staring upwards that won't appeal to anyone, even your memories! Instead, walk back into the small park in front of the main facade, with a pond in the centre, surrounded by trees. I won't pretend that this is a serene and particularly quiet park, because it certainly isn't being surrounded by tourist buses and tour groups. But it is only visited itself really by Catalans themselves, or perhaps a few families looking for a restful place to relax after the crowds. Walk to the back of the pond, and there, looking through the vegetation in front of you, there is a perfect view of the cathedral framed by trees, grasses and a little pond alive with hungry ducks (bring something to feed them- they'll eat anything!).

At the Fundacio Antoni Tapies...

by coeur.chaud

At the Fundacio Antoni Tapies (see must-see activities) there's a rooftop art/gardening fun-space. You can lounge around, read, listen to the birds and soft the music playing (as I did on one of their hammock's) or if you wish you can do a little gardening learning. The best part is the area dedicated to letting your creativity loose. Everything you'll need to draw or paint is there and you can even put it up for display!

Not only is it beautifully set-up, it's inspiring! If I lived in Barcelona I'd visit this hideaway often.
