Montserrat, the 1,235m peak which protrudes from the Rio Llobregat Valley, is a colourful interplay of limestone, quartz, and slate stone.
The ornate basilica, where La Moreneta (Black Virgin) is in display, is a beautiful site on its own.

The airport 'El Prat de Llobregat' is 13km (eight miles) southwest of the city centre.
We took the A1 Aerobús service from the airport to Plaça de Catalunya. The trip is about 40 minutes and costs 475 ptas

By air: The Barcelona airport is in 'El Prat de Llobregat', 12km southwest of the city. A train connects the airport with the railway station, Estació de Sants, every 30mins and the ride last about half an hour. A bus service is also available from the Plaça de Calalunya, departing every 15 mins.
El aeropuerto de Barcelona está situado a 12 km de la ciudad, en el Prat de Llobregat. Se puede acceder a él por la autovía de Castelldefels o mediante transporte público.

El Prat de LLobregat, Barcelona's airport, is 12 km away from the centre of Barcelona. You can get to the city in three ways:
By Bus (Aerobus): It takes about 30-40 min. The stops are (in this order): Plaza España, Gran Vía/Comte d'Urgell, Plaza Universidad and Plaza Cataluña.
By train. It takes 25 min. (It stops in Sants Station, Plaza Catalunya Station, Arc de Triomf Station and Clot-Arago Station)
By taxi: of course, the more expensive solution.
The best way to get around Barcelona is by the metro (underground). It's fast and easy to use.

Dear All,
Could you please suggest the best rout to Montserrat (Spain) from Barcelona Airport!!!!! PLEASE!

There are no direct trains from the airport. I think the easiest way will be taking the Aerobus to Barcelona, to Plaça Espanya. You have to look for the regional trains (FGC) station of Plaça Espanya, be aware that's an underground station. You may take the train to Monistrol de Montserrat (station Monistrol-Vila), line R5, "Llobregat-Anoia". There you change to the rack train ("cremallera") to reach Montserrat. You can reach the monastery as well with a cable car, for this option you should leave the train at the station before Monistrol (Montserrat-Aeri). There are combi tickets including train+cremallera (or even including audioguide, lunch...) that you can buy at Plaça d'Espanya. I think you can combine the trip using the cable car one way and the rack train the other, but I'm not sure, maybe other VTrs can help on this.
Here you can get more info about FGC tickets: http://www.fgc.net/accesible/eng/viatjar/oci.php

Train from Pory Aventura to Barcelona
by eriks33
We are staying in hotel Port Aventura from the 16th -23rd of the June.
We are going to visit Barcelona in the evening mainly for to see fountains' show but we saw that last train depart from Barcelona at about 10:00pm back to Salou. We are going to have rented car but as we understand there is problem to park car near main attractions. We are travelling together with our 3 yo daughter and it could be difficult manage long distance on foot. Maybe parking problem is not so serious in the evening.
Are there any other possibilities to get from Barcelona to Salou at night?
How much could taxi cost from Barcelona to Salou?

Perhaps you should think about staying over night in Barcelona for the one night.

Parking may be not so big problem at night, but it means from 22 hours onwards....
A taxi from Barcelona to Salou will cost you an arm and a leg (probably most expensive than spending the night at Barcelona). Renting a car and paying a parking lot (about 2 euros per hour, you'll find many scattered around town) could be not so expensive and quite convenient. The main problem is driving in the city centre. However, as you're arriving from the South, you should follow the 'Gran Via' signals when approaching to Barcelona, after Hospitalet de Llobregat (be careful, it can be a bit confusing, do not take the road to the seafront) and leave your car at the underground parking at Plaça d'Espanya (just right to magic fountains). If you arrive earlier, you have there buses and metro to the very city centre.
Hope it helps,
Bus, Barcelona/Sitges/Barcelona

I have seen a site which claims there is a late night bus from Barcelona to Sitges and that the same company runs a bus from the airport to Sitges.
Does anyone have any info on this?
Thanks
Colin

Train
There is an excellent rail link between El Prat airport and Sitges, with trains every 30 minutes (from 6.13 to 23.40) to Prat de Llobregat station, where you can catch a train direct to Sitges. You can see the Barcelona suburban train timetables selecting AEROPORT (Airport) as "Origen" (Origin) and SITGES as "Destino" (Destination) and clicking in "Itinerario" (Itinerary) or "Horario" (Timetable).
Taxi
You can also take a taxi from the airport to Sitges. There is one taxi stop in each one of the terminals A, B and C. The taxis are from Barcelona city but there are lots of them in the airport during all the day. The fare is not fixed, It depends on the way (by Tunnels of Garraf or by Garraf coast), on the hour, etc. The average ride, by Tunnels of Garraf, costs 40 € (weekly days).
