Barcelona is a very old city....

Barcelona is a very old city. Its history lasts more than 4000 years. It’s a shame, but I had no idea about that. The appearance of Barcelona shows influence of different nations, which hosted here during the long city’s life. Romans, Franks, Arabs brought and left a part of their culture, but had never dominated over the Catalunian spirit. And Barcelona proves this.
Time to eat
by col_hall6
Be prepared to eat late or sit in an empty restaurant. You will find most restaurants don't open in the evening until 8.30 at the earliest. Most locals will get to restaurants from between 9.00 and 10.00.
We ate small snacks such as tapas throughout the day, this was a great experience in itself.

This town needs an extra portion of films...
...for me it was the first of my travels with my Minolta AF camera with 35mm-105mm Zoom-lens and - very important for Barcelona - a 24mm Wide-angle-lense
Santa Maria del Mar
by tompt
Probably the most beautifull church in Barcelona. It is an example of the catalan gothic style. Because all welth is absent the church is looking very spacy and simple. The building dates from the 1300´s and some of colorfull glasswindows date back the 1500´s.
The church is located at the Pl. de Santa Maria. The nearest subway is Jaume I.
The church is open between 10:00 - 13:30 and 16:30 - 20:00
Zara
by emilybcn about Shoes / Clothes
Zara is somewhat like a department store, it is mostly for women but the branch on Passeig de Gracia and Portal de Angel have a floor for men as well. Zara has cute basic tank tops and jeans, it includes a women's section and a junior's department as well as a mens floor in the Zara's on Passeig de Gracia and Portal d'Angel(also children's here). I would recommend Zara for quick basics you might need while on vacation(cheap tanktops, sandals). cute shirts, shoes, purses, basics. zara ranges from 6 euro for a tanktop to 200 euro for an expensive jacket.
