The front desk personnel were friendly and very helpful. They could give tips on almost everything we asked them ... and they speak English. There are a couple of maps available free of charge from the hotel and we relied completely on those maps to get around. They were pretty comprehensive so don't waste your euros buying maps.
Our booking included breakfast which is buffet-style and opened from 7am to 11am. The spread is quite good and we always started our day with a hearty breakfast.
Our room was spacious and I especially liked it that there was a door separating the bathroom and the entrance corridor from the bedroom itself. The beds were comfortable and extra pillows are stashed in the closet. The bathroom is also fairly large and comes equipped with basic amenities. I would have much preferred a shower stall instead of a tub in the bathroom.
The rooms are kept clean and the only complaint we have is that it is not sound proof at all. There was some knocking and drilling going on (I'm not sure whether it is in the hotel or in some adjacent building) during the day time and we could hear those loud and clear. Generally, we were not disturbed by the noise too much because we were usually out during the day. We only noticed it when we returned to the hotel for a short siesta on a couple of days before going out again at night. Noise wasn't a problem at all during the night. There is a safe and a mini bar but those of you who are used to coffee making facilities, please take note that there are none.
Free internet is available and for those without a laptop, there is a computer in the reception area for you to use.
For the average price of 110 euros a night (inclusive of tax), I found it an ideal place to call home during our stay in Barcelona. We felt very safe in that area even though we went back past midnight more than once. I would recommend this place to those looking for a safe, comfortable stay in Barcelona.
