Barcelona, City of Art
by MM212
The appreciation of art and its harmonious inclusion in the fabric of the city is one of the most striking aspects about Barcelona. Everywhere you walk, anywhere you look, there is evidence of creativity and artistic expression. Attached are photos of such examples.

The harbour is really pituresque with bars and cafés. And: don´t miss the Ramblas as every travelbook will tell you. Actually, I thought this shopping mall to be a lot bigger but it´s amazing anyway since the atmosphere is great.
here´s a good site to get a overwiev of what to do and where to go in Barcelona:

The best patatas bravas ever in Barcelona!!
by Elisabcn
As most of the VTers may know, patatas bravas is a typical dish in the Spanish diet, especially during summer when people like to eat them with a fresh beer.
The question has always been on the streets without a general agreement: where in Barcelona can we eat the bests patatas bravas??
Now the scientific study has arrived! Some months ago a journalist "sacrificed himself" elevating his tryglicerids level and did a kind of ranking about bravas. He judged separately the patata and the sauce (score in red). Here I show you the top five:
5. Resolis: in the heart of Raval with peel and basil
PRICE 4,80 €. Riera Baixa, 22 (Ciutat Vella) Telf.: 93 441 29 48
PATATA 9,5 / SAUCE 9,25
4. La Esquinita: one hour line to taste them!
PRICE 3,25 €. Fabra i Puig, 296 (Turó de la Peira) Telf.: 93 358 25 19
PATATA 9,5 / SAUCE 9,5
3. Tomás: long and very famous patates braves
PRICE 2,20 €. Major de Sarrià, 49 (Sarrià) Telf.: 93 203 10 77
PATATA 9,75 /SAUCE 9,75
2. Mandri: Terrasse ‘high class’
PRICE 2,40 €. Mandri, 60 (Sant Gervasi-La Bonanova) Telf.: 93 417 11 29
PATATA 9,75 /SAUCE 9,75
THE VERY BEST!: La Taverna del Clínic
Cylindrical patatas covered with a kind of pink sauce, soft, and black sesame and salt of Meldon. No words to define these patatas bravas: just taste them!!
PRICE 4,50 €. Rosselló, 155 (Esquerra de l’Eixample) Telf.: 93 410 42 21
PATATA 10 /SAUCE 10

Word of advice. If you're new in town and looking for a ticket, go up to the stadium and ask there. I was offered a ticket for the Valencia match for 105 euro by my hotel reception. I was able to get the same ticket for 48 euro at the stadium. Fantastic ground and high quality football but atmosphere was a bit muted. More of a temple than a cauldron!

An hour north by train is the monastery at Monserrat. The monastery is at the top of a small mountain that looks like serrated teeth, and the views are to die for! The usual way to get to the top is by a steep cable car that hugs the mountain; the terminus is right near the train station. There is also a small museum worth visiting. You can walk or take another cable car to the tippy top of the adjacent 'tooth'; it's even steeper than the first.
