    Angie's Hostel, on Roger de...

    by

Angie's Hostel, on Roger de Lluria near Placa de Catalunya. A bunch of cramped apartments with distressingly inadequate shower facilities. The proprietor, Angie, is simply insane. She's like a hypercaffeinated little Franco, busting into your room and shaking you awake at 8AM sharp to take your money. She will refer to you as 'baby', or if you are in a group, 'babies.' She's a charming character, but a little too intense in the early morning for my taste. Still, it's a great location and it's pretty inexpensive. Just beat the rush to the showers in the morning. P.S. There's a fully loaded kitchen, and it's just a few blocks from a grocery store (below the Corte Ingles at Placa de Catalunya).

20 euros for a dorm. I was travelling with 3 friends and we had a room for 4 people for ourselves, and paid 25 a night. I thought it was allright since the location is great, they cleaned your room every day and because we didn't have our window to the street we weren't bothered by the traffic noise.

Unique Quality: Very nice neighbourhood (the Ritz hotel is just a block away), nice athmosphere, clean, good cooking facilities and nice bathtrooms.

    Angies Love House - actually...

    by

Angies Love House - actually not called that but I knew no over name. We were approached in the train station by a girl who the guys (I'd met on a train to Nice a few days earlier) said smelt nice. So we followed.
    Close to the esplande.
    18000pts ($18AUD)

Unique Quality: NOT THE KABUL HOUSE (Which I might add I stayed a ton my second visit to Barcelona and is THE MOST DANGEROUS PLACE TO BE. Honest, you WILL be mugged). ANyways back to Angies..(Oh she owns the place - hence Angies.....).OK.
Own kitchen. Fridges=cold beer/sangria. Communal room. Safe. Close to everything. They do your washing AND FOLD IT for $8AUD a bag. Folded wow!!

    Directions: #10 Roger Llurra
Take the green metro line and get off at Catalona (spelling is shoddy sorry).
Two streets away from park with fountains.
Next to 7-11 (which sells 2000pts ($1AUD) for a litre of cheap
