Barcelona in March

by klopatios

Hello everyone!

I'll be visiting Barcelona with my friend for 5 days and I would like to ask you if you know some good places where I could take her: restaurants, theatres, clubs, music events, parcs etc.
We are students, so we don't do expensive places :)
And do you know a hostel called Barcelona Rooms?

Thank you for your time!

Have a great day/night :P

One more thing, does anyone know a good place to have a massage, or even a hammam :) ?

Thanks!

Hi,
your op questions are very general
if you write about your likes/dislikes , you have a chance someone share their experience,
also - when in March ?
the problem with restaurants is the choice - there are so many ;)
theatre wd involve understanding Catalan ...
for clubs, parks etc try google for any guide on line,
like Maribel guides or barcelona-tourist-guide.com

I don't have experience with B. Rooms nor massage in B...

As already said, it's very difficult to advice without knowing your tastes. You can find some of the restaurants, shops, "off the beaten path" places I like in my Barcelona VT page (but my tastes may be opposite as yours ;-))

For live music or other special events check:
www.barcelonarocks.com
the "diary" section at www.bcn.cat (great website for general info and itineraries as well)

As said above, theater usually will be in Catalan or Spanish. But you may find interesting musical/dance shows on your dates. Again, without knowing your tastes is difficult to advice.

There is a great hammam in Barcelona: www.airedebarcelona.com, but it's not cheap. Well, none of the spas/massage centers in town is cheap.

Travel Tips for Barcelona

Las Ramblas

by lihue

The place in Barcelona, where life bustles is the approx. 3 km long "Las Ramblas". It's a great place for shopping or watching people while sipping a beer in one of the countless open air bars. Along this shady alleyway, there a always some street artist to entertain the passing crowd.

----Space Venus----
Dali pays humage to the female figure, but adds his own special elements.Beauty of the flesh is temporary and will vanish, but the beauty of art is timeless and eternal. The Space Venus is divided into two parts to reveal the egg, symbolizing life, renewal, continuation and the future.

Salvador Dalí

by seamandrew

Many people visit Spain to see the great works of Dalí. Exhibits run through the city all the time and his works can be seen in places like Montserrat all the way to Port Lligat where his former home is or the Gala's castle in Púbol it's hard not to find a place to study one of Spain's greatest artist's work. Look around or ask at the tourist centers. You're sure to find something.

Arrive cheapest to a beautyful Costa Brava beach!

by merak

You got up not too early, wanting to make a day trip to a very beatyful beach.
Take the train (RENFE, blue line) to Blanes,
but stop at [Sant Pol de Mar and look for a place some streets up the station. Sa Rosa is not as good as it was and rised its prices] Canet de Mar to get a tasty and priceworthy meal. Go out the station and turn right. After 50meters you'll find "Restaurant Sa Rosa", offering a menu (salad, bread, two plates, drink and a sweet) for (more than 10]Euros . But you have to understand the Spanish names of the dishes and order from the menu list; if you ask for an English list, you may have to pay "à la carte". Be sure to arrive before 2pm, otherways they may have put a ladder across the entrance to show they are complete with guests.
After this meal, wait for the train to Blanes.
If you are too tired, alternatively slender ahead besides the rails, through the tunnel and you'll find some nice beaches too.
After your arrival in Blanes, take a bus to Lloret departing from the train station (1,30 Euro a ride). After leaving Blanes, it will pass the access to Santa Cristina Beach. One stop further you have to leave the bus to go to Sa Boadella Beach. Behind the top of the hill you'll see this beauty where you can spend the rest of the evening. The return bus departs about xx.45 and xx.15 on the opposite side of the road, walking some meters upwards to the left.

Outlet shopping mall

by MaheshSamtani about La Roca Village

If you are one of those compulsive buyers or simply enjoy shopping or just out for bargains and are particular that your stuff should be branded then this is the place to go. The Roca Village is a complex of outlets mainly for premier brands like Hilfigier, Hugo Boss, Pedro del Hierro, Calvin Klein, Burburry and other reknown brands of clothes and other fine items like vines, sports wear, travel goods, shoes, home dsiegn etc.,etc.,
This shopping complex is situated outside the city of Barcelona and is open all the year around. Checkout timings and other details at their website - www.larocavillage.com
If you are able to get a brouchere of this place at your hotel you will be able to get a 10 percent discount over the prices just for having it - so look for it. You can printout a map of how to get there from their web site which also has information of how to get there by different means of transport, so if you have the extra cash and the time - go for it.
