TO SAVE on various post, then we shall try our best answering all your needs all on these page, we hope we are able to make your planning easier...
You say you live in Dallas. Dallas is known to have thousands and thousands of Mexicans and you hear them speak Mexican - Spanish just about everywhere you go...so, we are sure you pick up few words here and there.Spanish happens to be one of the easiest foreign language to learn.
Your asking if it is not true that in Casa Diagonal people are not friendly. By nature, Catalans are very friendly but if you come to approach them with a funny attitude then people will always react on your attitude. Catalan as well as the Spaniards are one of the most loving Europeans you will ever meet!
About your enquiring if you should get a days pass or T-10 pass. Since you did not mention how many days you intend to visit Barcelona...it all depends on how often you wish to get on the metro or the train or bus. If you expect to be in Barcelona at least 3 days, then the answer is best to purchase the T-10 which you can purchase at the metro or at the "Tabac" that is where people purchase their tobaccos.
Picasso Musseum entrance has free entrance only on the first Sunday of the month, it has nothing to do after 3 in the afternoon, other than that you will need to pay. Picasso Musseum is all worth your time and money for a visit. Five hours is a bit too long visiting Picasso, normally when we visit Picasso Museum two hours or three hours... would be the maxi. Have a nice safe holiday in Barcelona. What you must worry is investing on a good moneybelt. Barcelona has low rate in crime, but very high percentage in rampant pickpocketing, very proffesional pickpocketing as they work in groups of two, three or sometimes four people. You always hear from visitors, from locals, from police that pickpocketing in Barcelona or in Spain is very common....that is nothing shocking news to anyone of them. So, please invest on a good hidden moneybelt (the style that you tuck inside your skirt or pants). Make copies of your passports and imporant documents. If you need a bit more information on how to make the most of your holiday in Barcelona, if you have few minutes of your time, do read our homepage on Barcelona. HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY, WE HOPE YOU WILL HAVE A GRAND HAPPY AND MEMORABLE TIME!

you are so right, when we visited purto rico, I was surprised a lot of people in san Juan do not speak english, but we were very polite and they are so friendly to us, it was one of the memorable vaction to us. so I am sure I will feel the same way when I visit Spain....

The T-10 can be used on all metro, buses, and trains within the center area. You can see the map and more detail on the transport website: www.tmb.es. Also the T-10 can be used for multiple people; so if you are with someone, you can both punch it (1 time each) and use it for that trip. As said above, they are easy to buy anywhere so just get 1 as needed.

Travel Tips for Barcelona

DON'T MISS THE DETAILS

by hevbell

Barcelona is one of those cities that you really can miss a lot if you're not looking for it! I only noticed this building because it happened to be in a photo in my guide book and I was looking out for it. Its the Casa Bruno Quadras which - believe it or not! - was once an umbrella shop! Its now a bank and is located on Rambla de Sant Josep.

Paella: THURSDAYS in the menu

by leptitalbi

As maybe you've read before, you can find good prices to eat with the menu (usually cheaper from Monday to Friday) in a lot of bars and restaurants. If you are very interested to try a paella, get the menu in Thursday, as this is the "oficial" day for the paellas in the menus. As is already expected, the cooker have the time to prepare it. Maybe you will take a menu for 10-12 euros all included. If you take a paella out of this day maybe you will pay even the double for 1 person!

Don't trust or even taste this kind of s**t that some restaurants offers you in the Ramblas and near there, or in a lot of touristic places called PAELLA D'OR. It's a kind of half-prepared paella, quite similar as a fast food meal. Don't try it! thanks.

If you want a paella, always is beter when you go to the bar or a restaurant (maybe you can check close to your place/hotel), and you request it to make it to you (where it's offered). Usually you go in the morning and you ask your paella for an approximately hour. Is a dish that takes 1'30 hour at least! to be done. So, if you ask a Paella d'or, you will see how runs the spanish fast food.

Summer

by emilybcn

The Summer in Barcelona is very hot and humid so be prepared!
For women
DON'T
-wear shorts, especially not really short ones unless you like cat calls.
-wear beach clothes on the streets.
-don't bring a heavy sweater it will be very hot!
DO
-wear midlength or longer lightweight summer skirts
-wear white lightweight pants and tops.
Over all in the summer there are so many tourists that you shouldn't worry too much about sticking out but from my experience the short skirts, and small tanktops that are popular in California will just lead to catcalls on the streets of Barcelona.

A nice terrace

by SirRichard

In the Gothic Quarter, not far from the Placa del Rei, you can find this quiet little terrace, where you can have a drink surrounded by old charming stnoe walls.
One of them is the Cathedral, so I think it won't be hard to find (I can't remember the exact address).

Flea Market

by Dyesebel

Actually we wanted to go to Maremagnum on Sunday afternoon but I never thought that there would be a Flea Market just across Columbus Colom.I felt lucky because I really like looking and buying antiques and unique products.
But remember,always BARTER!
