See Sargarda Familliar. ...
by SANDYGR
See Sargarda Familliar. Guadi's best known work and probably Barcelona's best known tourist attraction, Sargarda Familliar is still under construction, eighty odd years after his death. I was a little disappointed to find that it is still only really two facades with nothing in between. How much of what is there is true to Gaudi is very hard to determine as he didn't leave plans for it's completion.
He in fact got hit by a tram while admiring his work, and the plans died with him. Gaudi is buried in the crypt of SF as a tribute You can actually climb to the top of the towers at SF and look down onto the city and the work below. Lifts take you almost to the top so it's not a hard climb.
Language matters
by fairy_dust
The main language is Catalan, which is similar to French and Castillian Spanish. If you know either French or Spanish, you'll probably be able to at least read Catalan. In Catalunya, the people have their own language and culture which can be quite different from the rest of Spain. My professor told us that since the Catalan people are very proud of their language and culture (they consider themselves to be Catalan first, Spanish second), they might give us a hard time if we speak Castillian Spanish, but we never had any problems.
Since this city is so cosmopolitan and international, I think more people here know English than in most other cities in Spain. The front desk man at the hotel spoke to us in English.
Olympic Stadium
by clueless83
The Barcelona Olympic stadium was the venue for the 1992 Olympic games. Today it is open to visitors to take a look around and see where all the action took place. We stopped here on our coach trip to Barcelona from Salou long enough to take a few photos.

Shops at the airport
by SirRichard
At the El Prat airport you will find a huge area for shopping, with many kinds of shops, from Souvenirs to chocolates, wines, books... I arrived 30 minutes earlier than I should to the airport and had a good time wandering around...
