Lively Restaurant on a Tuesday for 30th Birthday

by jeffa79

Hello everyone,

I'm taking my girlfriend away for her 30th birthday this week to Barcelona (we're there Monday-Wednesday) and on the actual day (Tuesday 23 Feb) want to take her to a really good restaurant that will be romantic but also lively.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for somewhere that will be lively and also intimate on a Tuesday? I don't mind spending a bit as it is a special birthday.

Thanks,

No specific suggestions but if you head round the streets back from the large marina, the place is full of small locals restaurants. Nothing flash but small, cosy and most serving wonderful paella and seafood with decent wine and all at reasonable prices. You say you don't mind spending a bit (good for you) so you may want to consider somewhere more upmarket. Personally, I like locals places, I think they are far more romantic. I suppose it depends on your definition of the word really.

On a totally different style than 7-Portes, that is a classic but in my humble opinion is a bit living from its past glory, you can try the "festival de tapas" at Comerç 24: www.comerc24.com

Agree with Belsaita, on both counts, if you want a truly memorable experience go for the festival menu at Comerç 24, but it is not cheap. I think it is currently around 60€ for the shorter of two Festival menus, and that does not include wine.

Travel Tips for Barcelona

Visiting all of Gaudi's works is a must. He is still the most innovative architect in the world.

'La Pedrera' (Gaudi's apartment complex) had a fab art exhibit on Guinovart.
La Sagrada Familia - the great cathedral ... still in progress!!!.
Parc Guell ... the views and the fantasy

... just to name a few. First night in Barcelona and I meet Emilie (from London) at Cafe Zurich in Plaza Catalunya. later Tomas a friend of hers joined us and we all went out bar hopping, gathering friends of theirs from all areas. It was wonderful. That is life in Spain, casual encounters that lead to incredible evenings.

Visit Park Guell, another unfinished work by Gaudi. Spend a morning at Park Guell, another project undertaken by Antonio Gaudi. Like the Sagrada Familia, this residential project is incomplete and has now been converted to a park. Take a seat and just people watch on one of the beautiful mosaic seats.

It seemed that there was always an abundance of cats in certain places. Especially at the Castell de Montjuic. But I soon discovered why that would be. There was a very pleasant and friendly man who comes there possibly everyday to work. I believe he is one of the security guards for the castle. He brings with him things for the dozen or so stray cats that hang about areound the fortified walls. It was very nice of him to do and they all seemed very happy to see him.

TAKE A LOOK AROUND

by Maria_75

One of the things I enjoy while I'm travelling, is to get away from the mainstreets, get away from the touristy things and explore the streets and places not mentioned in the guidebooks.

This is where you can find the true soul of a city. Just walk around, look at the things, take in the different smells, talk with the people living there, and you might find a more rewarding experience than in any of the must-see-places.

Zara

by savvygirl about Shoes/Clothes

Barcelona has the best Zara clothing store right on the main drag of downtown. Zara is an internationally known brand for giving the customer high fashion at high street prices. Also, the tailoring is particularly good and I have seen all ages shopping here. High fashion at affordable prices
