One day Montserrat and Cava Trail Day trip from Barca?
by travellingtechie
Has anyone been on this day trip of Montserrat and Cava Trail from Barcelona? COuld anyone tell me if there are slopes to be walked up and down during this trip? Am planning to send my parents on this day trip but am not sure about the amount of walking on the hill involved.
Any information is a big help! Thanks in advance!

Are you asking about a organized tour? In this case you should better ask the tour company. It is unlikely someone here has done exactly the same tour. Even the same company may have tours of different difficulty.
As Pedro said, Montserrat generally involves some walking, same about wineries. But these walks may be more or less difficult. There are hikes for all levels in Montserrat, some are strenuous, some are easy and flat. Some people do not explore the mountain paths at all, they only visit the monastery area and (maybe) take the rack-train to Sant Joan peak...
If they are doing the these visits independently they can choose where and how long they want to walk. If it's a tour... as I said before, better ask the tour company for details.

Your parents are, I would guess, in my age bracket. I found that Montserrat alone was quite enough for me for a one day trip, but then I went on my own. Montserrat is quite hilly and has steps too.
As belsaita noted, if it is an organized tour you should ask them.

Thanks to all of you for your responses to my questions. My parents had a good time in Spain except for a couple of bad experiences and reached back home safe and sound. And CONGRATULATIONS of the World Cup victory :) They even witnessed the World Cup frenzy during their stay in Spain.
Thanks a lot once again!
Happy travelling!

Sorry to hear that they had a couple of bad experiences. Hope that the good outweighed the bad and that they found the trip a good experience overall.
Travel Tips for Barcelona
Barcelona skyline
by pugwashman
Not only is Barcelona's skyline stunning, there are numerous places you can go to get to see those views. You can go to the top of the spires at La Sagrada Familia, The rooftop of La Pedrera, The rooftop of the Cathedral, the promenade of Parc Guell, the Teleferic de Montjuic, The Olympic Stadium, the top of the Mirador de Colom, the Aerial Tramway, Tibadabo. The best thing about Barcelona is the fact you can walk from the city to the beach in a matter of minutes, which is quite unique.
Open Top Bus Trip

Take an open top bus trip around the city. We came across this old bull fighting arena while on the bus...
Although the bus ticket we bought wasn't so good (see Transport tips) we still enjoyed it...
Church-seats of the high Society
by globetrott
Noble men and who-ever could afford it had a special church-seat next to the altar of the cathedral.
Click on the pic for more details of the wooden carvings of the seats and the great paintings. It is just a pity that the scanning of my slide is so very dark. I hope to return there soon with my digital camera.
San Pau del camp

Situated in the heart of El Raval is this Romanesque church, one of the oldest in Barcelona. Originally founded as a Benedictine monastery in the 9th century and subsequently rebuilt in the following centuries, this ancient church reveals a peaceful, 12th-century cloister.
Inside the "old town"
by Laura_Mexico
This is the inside of the "Poble Espanyol" -- charming, as you may see! You really feel as if you were in an old village... At least when I was there it wasn't crowded at all, so it also felt as being in a "ghost" town -- almost deserted!
What you will find inside this place, besides these nice buildings, is a bunch of little workshops and stores where they sell ALL kind of typical Spanish souvenirs. You can buy jewelry, fans, clothes, glass stuff, embroideries, and many other things made by the locals. There are also a couple of places to eat. Of course, what you buy here is not included in the entrance fee.
