Help with transportation from airport to hotel

by lanlan

Hi all,

We are 3 girls travelling to Barcelona for 4 days in September.

Can someone please advise best way to travel from Barcelona Airport to Hotel Turin (Pintor Fortuny, 9, 08001 Barcelona)? Is it via aero bus, taxi or metro?

What is best way to get around in the city?
How much does metro costs?

Thanks.

The best way to get there is to take the Aerobus from the airport right to Plaza Catalunya. [There's also the train right in the airport]. This bus leaves often and is relatively cheap. Google Map the address like this "Pintor Fortuny 9, Barcelona, Spain" and you will see exactly where it is. A short walk down Ramblas, then right on Pintor Fortuny. If you are really not sure or don't want to walk, then take a cab from Plaza Catalunya to the hotel.

The best way to get around the city is with bus and metro. All the info you need is here: [tmb|http://www.tmb.es] or you can pick up information at the large station underneath Plaza Catalunya. Info on the Aerobus is also at TMB. You can buy a T-10 ticket for 10 rides on bus or metro. They can be shared. See the website for full info. There is an 'English' button.

By the way, one of my favorite places for breakfast is right around the corner from your hotel: Granja Viader at Xucla 4. Ask at the hotel, I'm sure they know it. There's also a great cheese store at the other end of Xucla.

Hola! We had worked hard and spent much time on our Barcelona homepage.Look for the title on our homepage on Barcelona "TRANSPORTATION" TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT. We have details as to costs and why it is best to take pulic transportation. Above all each of the 3 girls must first invest on a moneybelt prior to boarding the plane to Spain. Employement now all over Spain is very tough and a good paying jov is almost impossible....not all are pickpockerters however, pickpocketing is just too rampant specially for the new comers to coup up with. You really do not want to take any change.... Have a happy and safe holiday!

Travel Tips for Barcelona

Like any major city, Barcelona has it's fair share of povery. The guys in the picture are rooting through the recycle bins to recycle stuff.

This type of thing always serves as a sobering reminder for me.

Churros

by sue_stone

One of my sister Alison's favourite things about her first trip to Barcelona (and Spain for that matter) was churros! Churros are a fried dough snack that originated in Spain, and are popular for breakfast or a snack throughout the day.

A churro is a high fat treat. The dough is squeezed out through a machine called a 'churrera', and this creates long, ridged bits of dough. They are then fried in oil until they are crunchy on the outside and a little doughy still in the middle.

The best way to eat them is to dip them in hot chocolate - how evil is that!!

We came across a fabulous old churrerias - a shop specialising in them - and couldn't resist an afternoon snack : )

T-Shirts & Sun Screen

by luke850

In the summer Barcelona is very hot, so you will need T-shirts, shorts, light shirts, etc. In the winter/spring months it is not so hot, so you will be needing trousers, jumpers, etc. In the spring months it is prone to rain a fair bit, so water proofs are a good idea. You can get all the usual toiletries and medical supplies in Barcelona, at reasonable prices. There are loads of photo opportunities in Barcelona, so be prepared to have loads of films to get through everything! The beach isn't far from Barcelona centre, so bring your beach wear with you. The beaches are hot and clean, but they are also very busy and touristy. Remember to bring sun screen, or you'll get burned by the hot sun!

Palau Reial de Pedralbes.

by Maurizioago

This palace was donated by the family Guell to the king for having made count their father; Eusebi Guell.

Here you can visit two museums. The Museu de les Arts Decoratives, with furniture as far back from the middle ages to the 20th century and the Museu de la Ceramica, with works from the XI century.

Address; Av. Diagonal, 686. Nearest metro station; Palau Reial.
