Staff is very friendly and speak fluent English, which is great for me because my Barcelonian is not understandable to the locals. The rooms were spacious and modern. The location is just above the train station and a short trip to the airport. Taxis meet you in front of the lobby if you need a ride to the cruise ship area. I would have pictures, but my camera was stolen - be careful at the train station.
Unique Quality: Spanish food is not for me, but the restaurant was better than most that I visited.

This hotel is located directly over the regional train station and a short walk from the local underground via underground tunnel from the train station. A train runs directly from the airport to the hotel. You can access most tourist areas easily from the underground. There are several fast food places and shops to buy postcards etc in the train station. There is a post office nearby, but they speak little or no English, but some Spanish (the local language is Catalan).
The hotel rooms are nice, with a larger than expected bathroom with tub, nice for soaking in a hot bath after walking around all day. Our room had a nice view of the city. The staff was friendly and spoke good English. We were trying to ship some things home and they were very helpful, especially a porter named Abel.
The only negatives we found were small ones. The elevators up from the train station are a bit cramped with luggage. There are no nearby restaurants except in the train station that we found. We noticed a slight smokey smell in some areas of the hotel, but not our rooms. I would suggest taking a cab from the airport unless traveling with only one bag. There were four of us and we had at least two bags each, and the train got crowded after a couple of stops between the airport and hotel, and it was a nightmare getting off at the Barcelo Sants Station; so pack light or take a cab.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel as tourists but I thought would be great for business travelers also.

I stayed at this hotel from October 14-20, 2006. It was a great location, as it is actually inside the main bus/train terminal in the city. Thus, it was easy to get anywhere by subway, including a 20 min. ride to the airport.
There is a tourist booth, from which one can buy tickets for the Bus Turistic (which goes all over the city) and get maps, etc.
There is also a reasonably priced cafeteria in the train station (outside the hotel, but still in the same structure).
Unique Quality: Staff were great.

The hotel sits above the 2 metro lines you need to get anywhere without changing trains, which is really useful. Also the station has food, books, the main train station feeding outlying areas,taxis, info and a bank. The hotel is in the suburbs- so there is a vibrant main road with a number of good - and cheaper food options. Late checkout, baggage storage, and efficient staff are all features.
From here to Ramblas or any of the attractions is a maximum of 6 or 7 stops- so 10-15 minutes- but more usual around 5-10 minutes. Metro runs every 5 minutes on all lines , so there is no waiting, and if you buy a 5 day unlimited pass it'll cost the same as 2 taxi rides!
Breakfast and the buffet dinner are both good- a wide and fresh selection. Rooms were acceptable, a bit cramped, views are not great, and TV very limited regarding English channels - only 2 news channels were working during our stay. Beds firm and pillows fine.
Unique Quality: Good value, convenient, out of the mainstream- but accesssible to anywhere.

Our stay in June 2003 was great , location is great, on the loop of the bus tourist line, can get to any place in town in no time. We will always stay here. i would definitely tell people to stay here . If you want simple travel through Barcelona, pick this.
Unique Quality: On bus lines. close to La Rambus, like 2 minutes on subway. Beautiful lobby and great breakfast.

This hotel was great. We took the train from the airport straight to the train station. It was so simple and after flying for a few hours...it was nice just to check in and relax. We thought it might be loud but we didn't hear a thing. Our room faced the city where we could see the mountains and ocean. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a nice convenient stay.
Unique Quality: On top of the train station so easy access to the metro.

Hotel Barcelo Sants is just above the Estacion Sants. This is a great location!
Estacion Sants is the main station of BCN. Trains to rest of Spain and most of Western Europe and the Euroline Buses, all stop/depart/ arrive here.
The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast buffet is a spread!
Unique Quality: Just behind the hotel is a main shopping district as well.
The rooms are very well done, spacious and comfortable.
The price is a bit stiff for the budget traveller. We were are the Barcelo Sants only for 2 nights then moved to an apartment!

Unique Quality: We book in this hotel because we was travelling from France by Train and we find a good price for a 4 star hotel, it is not the best location

We loved the Barcelo Sants hotel. We stayed 4 nights in February 2005. The train station below was convenient to get to the airport. We used the metro sytem in the station to travel all over the area. Hotel staff were friendly and took care of every need we brought to them. Our room was immaculate and very comfortable. Next time in Barcelona, we will definitely look up this hotel.

I am wanting to find out a 75-125 euro/night Hotel right on (or close to Sants Station) Placa Espana. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hotel Barcelo Sants is right above the station, and Gran Torre Catalunya next door, but probably too pricy. Hotel Expo is next door to that and may be in your range though.
In Placa Espanya the is Hotel Plaza, but I suspect it's too much.
We book in this hotel because we was travelling from France by Train and we find a good price for a 4 star hotel, it is not the best location
