Port Vell
by Lemonita
As I mentionned in my 'Barcelona Beach' tip, Barcelona is a coastal city. There is nothing spectacular about Port Vell but it was just nice to walk along seaside and the many beautiful yachts stationned there.
Some of the yachts are restaurants and bars. Also, there are a lot of seafood restaurants facing the sea.
Farmacies
by emilybcn
In Barcelona nearly all of the smaller neighborhood farmacies close from 2-4pm or from 1-5 pm. However if you are in dire need of something right away and find the closest farmacy is closed you should look on the door and there will be a list of other farmacies that are open. There are also many 24 hour farmacies one near Sagrada Famila and at least two or three near the ramblas and the town center.
Casual will do

For a short term city tripp, a small suitecase is ok. Adjust your clothing to a mediterranean climate. Barcelona has some nice small beaches, and if the weather is fine (which is most of the time from spring to fall) bring some beach wear To see much means to walk a lot, so bring good comfortbale shoes
Carrer vs Calle
by Joacim
When i came to Barcelona I went with quite bad spanish knowledge (unfortunately). Even worse was my knowledge about Catalan. I came down to Barcelona and noticed that all the streets (almost) was called Carrer instead of, what I thought I knew was the name for street, Calle. It took me a few days before I understood what the different was.
Carrer is the catalan word for street while Calle is the spanish word.
ham!!!
by irisbe about Caza Silvestre Delicatessen
Just around the corner of Mozart, you will end up at a very nice square, called Plaça Rius i Taulet.
This delicatesse shop has a lot of local specialities, the sausages, the cheeses.
It also had a mouth watering collection of dried ham.
We bought some of the ham for lunch and a saucage to take with us, in case we are getting withdrawal symptoms leaving such a nice city behind. Local stuff like cheese, ham, saucages in all shapes and colours, spicy and soft. Whatever I paid, it is always much cheaper then what I pay at home
