Travel Tips for Barcelona

Meeting friends II

by Carmela71

Meeting Rochelle (Geisha_G) all over the world when unexpected it is becoming a classic for us: Madrid, Paris, San Francisco, Paris and barcelona in less than two years :-)

It was also our second meeting with Mir and Dennys, last year in Paris and now in Barcelona ...

so now... Where the next one? ... who knows but for sure it will be great to meet again to you, and I mean it with all my heart

Els Castellers

by Elisabcn

The word "castellers" means "people that do castles". The castellers are human towers of different kind and number of people. They reflect the local character -working together, tenacy and daring- There is a vast vocabulary about castles, (sometimes I thing I should do a master to understand all this world :-)) ) any kind of castle has a name depending on its number of "levels" and shape. Every level has its name too. For example the little boy/girl on the top is called "anxaneta".
Els castellers are typical of local festivities. This pic was taken during les Festes de la Mercè in Barcelona

And an abundant supply of H2O

Carefull with your bags. There are plenty of people on La Ramblas just itching to snatch something valuable out of your bag. Good walking shoes or jandels (Flip flops, thongs) if hot. Carry water with you at all times. In the summer it can be extremely hot and there are some sights that aren't very close to anything... ie no shops that sell water!

Antique Shopping Street Near La Rambla

by dlytle

After visiting the Cathedral, my wife and I decided to walk back to La Rambla. But instead of getting on Carrer (Street) Portaferrissa dels Boters (a straight shot back) we took Carrer de Banys Nous de la Palla. It turns out this street sort of parallels La Rambla.

We found a number of unique antique shops and fewer tourists on this small side street. It was a very quiet and stately walkway that allowed us to slow our pace down just a bit before we entered back into the frenetic activity of the La Rambla.

Shopping Centre - Centro comercial

by spanishguy about Maremagnum

Maremagnum is a big shopping centre and, in addition, it is located in a wonderful area. It was constructed over the Mediterranean sea and it enlargues "Las Ramblas" being called "Rambla del Mar". It's not a high building but it's very wide. It's next to the marina and the Yacht Club as well as other attractions like the Aquarium and the IMAX cinema. You must arrive here walking though a wooden footbridge.

There are a lot of shops here with the main international brands of fashion, complements, books or decoration. There are cafeterias, restaurants and cinemas as well.

Hay muchas tiendas con las principales marcas internacionales de moda, complementos, libros y decoración. También hay cafeterías, restaurantes y cines. There are regular prices, fixed for all the country.

Hay precios normales, fijados para todo el país.
