Place to stay in Barcelona for 2 adults and 1 kid
by csrivats
I am flying out London to BCN during end of July.
Should be reaching BCN around 11am in the morning.
Could you please let me know a reasonable priced hotel/B&B in barcelona for 2 adults and a 4 year old kid..
Also I read in this forum about "hotel urquinaona"..
Is that close to las ramblas?
Sorry for being soo vague but I am just kind of getting all the facts together :-)

Yes it is - about a 5-10 minute walk at most. Please see my "Accommodation" comment on my Barcelona travel page.

Urquinaona square is very centric but very traffic jammed too and very noisy place. Arthostal.com, maybe? 7 min from The Ramblas (although , I am sure, you’ll go there only once, the first day! Stay near to the Park and the beach with the baby. Born area, Barceloneta. So on...Greetings.

We stayed at the Urquinaona Hotel in March and we didn't suffer from any noise problems - even though we had a room facing the street. The hotel is not right on the Square, but a few meters into Ronda St. Pere Street. BTW, I was told that the rooms facing the back are quieter.

Travel Tips for Barcelona
Gaycelona
by Peret
There's a zone, in Barcelona, in the barri Eixample, and also a little part of ciutat Vella, where the gay people hav a lot of bars, discos, and another things to enjoy. A lot of this gay people get now their home here, and we can say it's a new neightbourghood, that i have heard people talking about as "Gaycelona". If a couple walk around, they can feel like the men look at the leggs of the man, the other way that normally. In the photo, the zone, more or less.

Archeology 2: Old city walls / Casa del Ardiaca
by Belsaita
By now you'll sure had realized I love history....
One of my favorite "hidden places" of Barcelona is Casa del Ardiaca, just next to the Cathedral. It's somewhat fun to define this place as "hidden", as it's just on the middle of one of the most touristy areas. But I'de bet that 99% of people passing by this small street, right the main entrance of the Cathedral, do miss it.
Nowadays the place is the site of some city historical archives. But while open, you can enter the lovely patio and have a rest in an beautiful place. If you enter the building (no probs if you politely ask), you can see some remains of the Roman walls.
Bigger remains of the city walls cam be seen at Via Laietana.
Fresh and cheap
by acemj about La Boqueria
La Boqueria is an amazing market where you can get fresh everything at low prices. I stopped here a couple times and purchased some fruits and cheeses for picnics. You can also eat some great meals at the small bars inside or just come as a sort of cultural experience and wander around seeing what the locals eat!
