Transport from Barcelona Airport to Cambrils

by fleming61

Could someone help me, I have my son and two mates travelling flying into Barcelona and I need to get them down to Cambrils on 16 May and then back on 23 May. The return flight is at 10.50 so it will be an early transfer.

All advice gratefully received.

Many thanks

Ann

Thanks have asked at the travel agents and it is Barcelona International Airport they are flying into.
I have not as yet researched this out - how many airports do they have?

Cheers

Travel Tips for Barcelona

by Globies

When you are in Barcelona do a 'Gaudi tour'. I bought a postcard in some shop with a map of the city and all Gaudi buildings on it, you can use this as your guide. The Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera and Parc Güell you can visit and this I would very much recommend!
I especially liked La Pedrera, with a very nice view of the city and all kinds of sculptures on the roof of the building. If the sky is bright blue you can make some lovely pictures here. Detail: when walking along the Passeig de Gracia look down for a moment to have a look at the pavement. These tiles are also designed by Gaudi.

Barcelona Tip

by Nene26

I arrived at Barcelona by train and from the train station i took the Metro to La Rambla, so my first real contact with Barcelona was when i walked away from the stairs of the Metro Station in the heart of La Rambla ... it was great, the atmosphere, the sounds, the sights, people speaking Catalan ... everything was really nice. I was coming from another Spanish city, Madrid, but for the very firsts seconds i thought i was in another country ... may be that is why Catalunya demands the independence from Spain.

Tapas.

by Dizzyhead

Something nice with Spain and also Barcelona is when you visit a retauran andorder tapas. Tapa means that you oder many dishes instead of a big meal. You get many plates and you can also share with your friends whe you go to the restaurant. This is perfect when you arent so hungry at all, then you just can order one dish.

Getting to and From Monserrat

by Jetgirly

To get to Monserrat from Barcelona, head to the Plaza Espanya train (metro) station. There, you can usually speak to a Monserrat Tourism employee, or just use the self-service machines to book your tickets. You save the most money by buying a combined ticket - Ferrocarils de Catalunya train to the base of the mountain, and then your choice of either the cable car or the tram up the mountain. We paid €12 each for combined return tickets for adults. Trains currently leave Plaza Espanya every hour from 9:36 am, but beware that the last train home leaves the bottom of Monserrat around 5:30 pm (at least in the fall and winter).

Once you are at Monserrat, there is an additional charge to take the funicular from the basilica / cafe / museum up to the top of the mountain (to see the old monastary, hermitages and excellent hiking trails). It is approximately € 6 return. You can pay half of that to take the funicular up and walk / hike down to the basilica (approxmiately 75 minutes).

La Roca Shopping Village - designer outlet

by suzwa about La Roca Village

If youwant to pick up some bargains while you are in Spain, you might want to try outlet shopping. There is quite a big designer outlet just outside Barcelona called La Roca Village - there are tons of bargains to be found there. See 'www.larocavillage.com' to decide if you think it's worth a visit (there is a bus that goes directly to it, too; the bus times etc are on the website). The only downside to the place is having to carry everything home (and paying the duty on your return to Canada!)! La Roca has tons of different shops selling everything from homewares and furnishings to clothes and shoes. There are over 100 big brand name shops, including Miss Sixty, Nike, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Diesel and Adolfo Dominguez... there are even shops that sells luggage (mandarina duck, kipling & samsonite) for you to take home all your bargains! Heavily discounted prices on everything - sometimes more than 50% off, depending on when you go. If you go during a sale period, you can pick up clothes cheaper than they're sold as second-hand on ebay!
