stayed there only over the weekend but must admit definetly coming back later this year to explore Barca and definetly staying in this hotel, it's very close to tube station (sorry... Spanish say - metro) Rocafort, standard double accomodation consists of living area, sleeping area bathroom with small bathtub and shower and kitchenette (with fridge, hob, sink, plates, pots and utensils!!!). The furniture were not the newest examples of interior design but I survived ;) The view from the window wasnt perfect (concrete basketball pitch) but if u need a hotel as a base to explore the city not the luxury place that u r not gonna leave but gonna tell everyone that u were in barca after u go back home.. well.. I think that is an optimum accomodation. it's reasonably priced- we paid 90euros per night, (dont book straight at the hotel- they charge more, we used ebookings.com) there is a big supermarket next door open late so fresh food available instantly:) really cheap:) breakfast was fabulous, fresh, lots of choices, continental and spanish choices, lovely staff, know fluent english!!!
- close to the centre of the city - clean Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averagePhone: 34.93.426 4228Directions: out of Rocafort tube station, look for carre de calabria exit, go towards north end of the street,Website: www.ebookings.com

 | Calabria Aparthotel Barcelona: Well located and reasonable rates

The 'living area' by ryan86 Although the Calabria's rooms are rather basic, their spaciousness and practicality make this particular Aparthotel a wise choice if you're seeking reasonably priced accommodation within easy reach of all the sites of this magnificent city. A minimalist, no-thrills approach has been taken when designing the interior, including the lounge and breakfast areas. The general cleanliness is predominantly satisfactory as is the friendliness of the reception staff. Your first impressions are likely to be tainted by the enthusiastic anticipation of your impending time in Barcelona, but I trust you wont be disappointed. The feel is of a typical mid-class hotel that you'd find anywhere in Europe. You'll be pleasantly surprised with the size of your room (At-least you might have been had I not just suggested so). I say 'room' in the loosest of terms... 'Apartment' is far more apt. You're sure to find use for the kitchen facilities, including fridge, hob and various utensils. Our apartment contained seven chairs and a sofa-bed, a clear indication of it's size. Being on the 7th floor we found ourselves free of any traffic noise that may have infiltrated the lower-placed apartments. The dividing walls aren't the thickest, but certainly do not present a large enough issue to warrant criticism. You'll appreciate the wide selection on offer at breakfast. Pastries, cereals, breads, fruits etc, along with scrambled egg, bacon and sausages. With so much to choose from you're sure to sufficiently set yourself up until the late catalan lunch-time. But first, there's half a day to be enjoyed, and the Calabria is a more than adequate base to do so. Rocafort metro station is literally a stones-throw away. From here it's a three minute ride to Placa Catalunya; the hub of Barcelona, and at the tip of La Rambla. This can be walked in under 20 minutes from the Calabria, as can Placa Espanya (The gateway to Mont Juic) and Central Sants (Barcelona's principal train station) in the opposite direction.
Our balcony-come-terrace certainly deserves a paragraph of it's own; solely due it's enormity. With nothing above us but the star-lit sky (or not, if you happen to be out there during the day) it made for a exceedingly nice setting! I will add, however, upon leaning over the edge and looking down, it didn't seem ones beneath us were even half as big. 24 hour internet access is provided free of charge. If someone happens to be occupying this facility when you've made the special trip down to the lounge to do so yourself, I'd suggest pacing behind them acting impatiently while checking your watch and occasionally clearing your throat. Worked a treat for me. Alternatively you can sit and watch TV while you wait. The supermarket right next door will come as a welcome convenience. However, don't envisage an ugly stand-alone hypermarket. It is in fact well hidden on the chiefly residential street, and there seems to be one of these shops on every block in Eixample. Taxi transfers to and from El Prat airport cost under 20 Euros each way.
