Great stay! Breakfast the same each morning. I was amazed how large the bathroom actually was. The rooms are nice and clean. Only thing, the cleaning service ignored our room a couple of days (no, we did not have the sign on the door) :)

Under construction...
I was in Catalonia Aragon Hotel, BCN, last month but the hotel was suffering some "changes":there was the "new zone" (with excellent rooms) and the "old zone" (that was not so good). But, in the travel agency, they didn't tell me that, so I was paying for an "old room" as much as some people were paying for a "new room". Additionally, I dind't find the staff very nice and kind...
Unique Quality: However, the hotel is well located, but there aren't many restaurants around it. The breakfast and dining room were excellent!!
The Columbus Monument's located at the bottom of La Rambla, by the sea. This major landmark was built in 1888 for the Universal Exhibition and commemorates the discovery of America.
The monument's divided into 3 parts. The 1st, circular 1, is raised by 4 stairways, 6m wide, and has 8 iron heraldic lions, modeled by Josep Carcasso. You can also see 8 bronze bas-reliefs depicting Columbus' principal feats. These are in fact replicas of the destroyed originals, modeled by Josep Llimona and Antoni Vilanova.
The 2nd part's the octagonal base of the column with 4 statues representing the kingdoms of Catalonia, Aragon, Castile and Leon.
The 3rd part's the column itself. It's 51.30m high with the bronze statue of Columbus on top. The statue was done by Rafael Atche.
Inside the column, there's a lift that can take you up to the viewing gallery, 60m above the ground, for a panoramic view of the city.

The hotel is on Carrer d'Aragó near Plaça de las Glories. It is a bit out of the city center, but near some metro stations and probably bus routes. Since it is away from the center, I don't know that area and can't suggest any things around there. If there are some other areas you might want to center yourself in, I might be able to suggest somethings.

Yes it's relatively away from the city center, but near to my place so I can advice you :))))
The area is OK, a residential area with lots of small shops and local restaurants around. And you'll be walking distance to the Sagrada Familia
I can't recommend any nice restaurants nearby as I only used some basic places to have a quick and cheap "menu del dia", so nothing to remember
For groceries, you'll find a lot of them and supermarkets around, but I'd recommend you to visit the market at El Clot. You'll see a genuine local market with lots of good stuff. There is a pastry shop just in front that sells pastries to die for! (watch the calories....)
You can walk along carrer de Rogent that is a pedestrian street, very nice for shopping. Less expensive that the city centre, and with still with the feeling of a Catalan town
Happy travels!
