The location is a little off the main tourist track being on the very edge of the old Gothic area. I think hgchuy's review is unfair; yes, the hotel is in a narrow street in a working class area. If you turn left out of the hotel you enter a labyrinth of narrow streets where the locals live and hang their washing from balconies as they have for hundreds of years. This is the real Barcelona. Take the usual basic precautions and you will be quite safe (certainly in daylight) although I admit we didn't go here after dark.
Turn right out of the hotel to the Arc de Triomph and the adjacent Parc de la Ciutadella; stroll here in the evening and watch the locals playing football, boules, making music and dancing. Very pleasant.
Picasso Museum, cathedral, harbour, zoo etc. are all within easy walking distance.
You need to take care from pickpockets everywhere in Barcelona but you are far more likely to be targeted at one of the main tourist sites (Segrada Familia, Parc Guell, La Rambla) than here.
Would we stay at this hotel again? Yes we would.
