I believe there is one on Las Rambas, just walk up the road towards Catulunya square Cheers Tommy x

Re: H & M store

let me clearify, walk up the street las ramblas to the center (placa de Catalunya) when you see the square...go right...past Hard Rock Cafe to the next main street call Portal de L'angel, make a right turn there and you will see the H&M store there along with many others clothing stores..and it's beautiful Cheers Tommy x

There is another H&M in Maremagnum shopping mall (in Port Vell, bottom of Las Ramblas area)

Actually it depends which "port" you mean. If the commercial port where the cruises call, you can take the shuttle bus to the Columbus statue and then walk to Maremagnum (or walk 30 min to the H&M in Passeig de Gracia, see the most famous street of the city on the way)

If you mean POrt Vell (the old port), Maremagnum is right there

If you mean Port Olimpic, it will be a 20-30 min walk along the seaside to Maremagnum

Tommy -- most helpful........thx from Texas

Kathy, I'd gave you the info above. From the cruise port take the shuttle bus, it's quite a walk (and with nothing of interest) to the Columbus statue. You will be next to the Maremagnum shopping mall (5 min walk), it's the part of Las Ramblas that continues over the water, to the old port area.

I was on the NCL cruise on the Jade in july and made a bee line to see some sights before we depart. Right outside the terminal there are shuttle buses to Columbus Statue I believe it is the T1 or T3 line. Take the shuttle and return from the same spot let off. It is a long walk to the statue because the port is link by a bridge...so take the bus.. When leaving the bus on the right is PORt vAL WHERE there is a mini shopping mall....there is a H&M in there but it is small. The large main flagship is on my post, up Las Rambas. It's a fun walk and interesting too. The main H&M was a old gas and power building with great architecture, thus a very nice shop. You should see it if you have time. Mind you that if on Sundays, a lot of the shops are closed, but the M Mall by the port is open for Sunday trippers. Cheers Tommy x

Travel Tips for Barcelona

Rascals!

by 36waterfalls

I found this sculpture in Ciutadella Park and just couldn't walk away from it. I viewed it from all angles and it put a huge smile on my face!
Thought, I'd share that with you!

Later I found out it's a work of art by Joseph Reynes, called "Vase with children" (1882).

Go to see symbol of Spain - Sagrada Familia(More pics are in Travelogue ^^) This is one of the city's most representative and emblematic monuments, as well as one of the most popular with visitors. Gaudi began to direct work on this cathedral in 1883, following the original plans drawn up by Francesc De Paula Villar. The main impulsor of the idea of dedicating a church to the exaltation of Saint Joseph and the Holy Family as symbols of stability and family values. Its completion now depends on donations.

Spanish isn't everywhere spanish

by Maeve_81

Lots of people forget that in Spain, there are 4 official languages (Castillian, Catalan, Gallician and Basque).
Normally if you study 'spanish' in school, you're learning castillian.
In Barcelona they speak catalan. It has the same roots, so you can recognise some words, you should be fine.

You rarely find an inscription in castillian or french or english. That's because of their oppression by General Franco; catalan was a forbidden language until 1975.

Camp Nou Stadium

by seamandrew

Without a doubt, the Camp Nou Stadium is a must for lovers of football (soccer as we call it here in the states). It opened in 1957 and holds 100,000 spectators, and has been named a 5-star stadium, the highest distinction awarded by the UEFA, due to the quality of its facilities. As a visitor, you get to the see the stadium through the player's eyes and gain access to the dressing room area, the pitch, and sit on the benches where the world's top footballers have been. Americans won't be too interested in this, but Europeans will jump on this place!

Montserrat Funiculars

by Jetgirly

There are two funiculars that connect the basilica and outlying buildings at Montserrat to the mountains high above. The funiculars are trains that run on steep tracks (about 65 degrees) along the side of the mountains. At Montserrat, the trains have glass roofs so you will get an amazing view! Don't worry if you are afraid of heights, it is a gentle trip and you will feel very secure. We took the funicular Saint Joan, which takes you up the mountain to beautiful walking trails and abandoned hermitages.
