by Saldi
My favourite place in Barcelona are the Ramblas and the Gothic quartier... it's full of life!... and you can make some shopping there, and also watch some artistics performances in the street.. ooohh...when I was in the Gothic quartier with my friend, and in a pub we met some guys from England... very nice and talkative.... well, we didin't notice tha theese guys are a roeck group very poplar in the UK named GOMEZ... they invite us to their concert (in front of the stage) and also to the backstage to talk with them after the concert....ahhh... The gothic quartier... everything could happen there!
Parc de la Ciutadella
by Laura_Mexico
This is me and my friend Bruno in front of the main (beautiful) fountain of the Parc de la Ciutadella, a big and lovely park located near downtown (towards the southeast of town, close to Villa Olimpica) and next to the zoo park. You can stroll, row in the lake or just lie down on the grass, it's a great place to rest and relax when the weather is good!
If you do not speak any...
by Weener
If you do not speak any Spanish or the local language of Catalan, the language barrier can sometimes cause a problem. A majority of restaurants have English menu translations, and locals that work along La Rambla speak a little broken English, but not very much. I saw a very frustrated American guy who had problems in a money exchange place who couldn’t understand what he was being told. Be patient and understanding, I don’t know of any English tourist area where workers were able to speak Spanish, so it shouldn’t be expected. It is wise to get a Spanish or Catalan phrase book to get you by in restaurants, shops and hotels.
Parc Guell - The Three Crosses
by dlandt
This may or may not be off the beaten path, but in Parc Guell, near the top of the park, there is a relic here from earlier days. Three ancient looking crosses are mounted on top of this kind of brick semi-tower. The view is the greatest, but watch your footing while climbing the steps, especially coming down.
If you are coming from or going to Lesseps Station, you will see a fork in the path. One will direct you to the main park area, and the other to the three crosses.
