Antoni Gaudi's work is all...
by zizquark
Antoni Gaudi's work is all over Barcelona. He was an Architect, artist , craftsman and So much moe. Here his work, The Sagrada Familia. a wonrous church can be seen. He died in a streetcar accident before it was ever finishe. Construction is continually going on to complete the Masterpiece. Other artisans became involved and they are completing the church in a more modern way. You see the contrast of stles and it ismind bogglind as to all the creativity present here.
Way of life

I found in Barcelona that the whole day seems to be moved forward compared to England.
Lunch time here is 12-1.30pm usually, however in Barcelona it is more likely at 3-4pm (for locals anyway). Evening meals in England are taken usually anytime between 5-7.30pm, and in Barcelona, no one usuallly eats out until 9.30pm at the very earliest!
Packing List

FOREIGN CURRENCY:The Euro is now used in Barcelona. However if you don't take Euros with you, you can exchange cash or travellers cheques at any bank or exchange office. Rates are not fixed and vary from one place to another. Banks usually take commission. The exchange offices don't, but the rate is often not so good. In some offices, you can get a better deal on exchanging large amounts of money. Savings banks only open from Monday to Friday in the morning and Thursday afternoons. Banks also open on Saturdays. The exchange offices are found mainly in the centre of the city (The Rambla), at the airport and at the railway stations. Their opening hours vary, but some remain open till late, including weekends. If you're desperate, you can also exchange money at hotels, although most likely at a poorer rate.
Palm trees

This is something I liked of BCN. You can find palm trees in the most unexpected places and corners. And this trees give the city a defined mediterranean flavour, a certain exotic touch.
This places are like urban oasis in a way...

This pedestrian street is full of popular spanish shops. Amongst them few Zara shops, Massimo Dutti and Mango. There are also few shoe shops here and another El Corte Ingles, with library, music and IT department.
