FC Barcelona

by leila12

I would like to get 2 tickets to see FC Barcelona on Sunday, May 24. Can anyone tell me the best way to get tickets? Where is the cheapest place to get them? Is it possible to buy tickets from scalpers on the day of the game? Or is that too expensive? Any advice would be great!!!!

Try http://www.fcbarcelona.cat ,
I think you can get 2 seats together,
BUT! mind it may be Saturday : "The date of the game cannot be considered definite until the kick off time (GMT+1) is given.
The date and time of games will be decided approximately ten days before."

Travel Tips for Barcelona

Go shopping! Between the...

by SusanneBeck

Go shopping! Between the Plaça de Catalunya and C.Portaferrissa and along Av.Portal de l'Angel, you can find an important shopping area. There's also two department stores there.
I wouldn't describe this as a fond memory, quite the opposite actually but I thought I'd tell you about it. Soon after arriving in Barcelona, we got lost. We had no idea where to go or how to find the town centre. We found a corner shop and my parents tried to force me to go in and use my limited spanish to ask where the shops were. It was awful. I was very shy at the time and really didn't want to do this. In the end, my dad with a very strong english accent tried to say the spanish which I would tell him but not use myself. It didn't work and I felt really bad :(

Never on a Sunday (and Sometimes Monday)

by gilabrand

Many of the museums in Barcelona (such as the Contempary Art Museum) close early on Sunday. In general, the museums are closed all day Monday. If you want to go to the Picasso Museum on Sunday, get up REALLY early. The lines are a mile long.

The department stores are closed. Food shops, if they do open, open much later than usual. The outdoor markets, such as St. Josep on the Ramblas, are closed. Some restaurants are closed, although you can still find plenty that aren't. The Metro closes down every day at midnight.

For a bit of entertainment on Sunday, you can watch the locals (mainly the old folks) dancing the Sardana, the Catalan national dance, in the square in front of the Gothic Cathedral or at Placa Sant Jaume. At noon, people begin to gather there and do this circle dance to the accompaniment of a band. The dance consists of just a few steps and is quite slow.

After a while, I found it a bit tedious, but it's interesting to see the characters who turn up for this event. Note the special cloth shoes that some of them don for the dance.

Packing List

by acemj

There are pickpockets working the tourist areas, so if you normally choose a money belt to deal with this, bring it along. Some of the ancient street of Barri Gotic may be uneven, so bring some comfortable (rubber soles) shoes. Are you kidding me? Don't even think about leaving your camera at home!

a pharmacy in a wonderful building: in my opinion one of the eixample's nicest buildings. The floral paintings on the façade are stunning... very art nouveau more than modernist. it's in carrer de valencia

Cheap Supermarket Drinks!

by Meadows11

Going out for the night in Barcelona can prove rather expensive, espescially when visiting the heavily tourist infested spots. If you're accomodation is suitable then it is a great idea to have a few drinks before heading out, as the prices are crazily cheap, and in comparison to the prices charged in club, you'd think they were criminals!

Beer/lager and spirits are offered at very generous prices from local super markets and off licenses, and if you are brave enough to go with the local brands, then they are even cheaper. Particularly cheap are budget cans of lager, vodka and wine. Lager we found for 35 cents a can!! 4.2%

Vodka 4euros and 50 cents!

Wine, dependant on quality, but we bough a 5 litre (yes, 5 litre!!) bottle for four euros!! It tasted rancid, but it was to be expected.
