Spending new years eve in Barcelona and dont know wich clubs/bars to go, help!
by pscott82
Hello, I'm travelling to Barcelona for new years eve with my friend and both of our girlfriends. We dont have a clue where to go,we are staying at W hotel and we want to go somewhere nice an not too heavy because we are with are girlfriends. We have looked on the internet and Sutton Club looks nice, so we are thinking of bringing the new year in at this club. However, it said on another forum not to bother goin there until late.We know this club is expensive but its new years eve so we want somewhere special. Anyway, if people could give me some advice then it would be really appreciated. Thank you

I would also look at TimeOut Barcelona website. If Barcelona is anything like Madrid, no one is going to be at a club until after midnight!

Hey there,
I can help. I am 21, living in BCN so i know most the decent places to go.
your options are...
For bars (busy time is 7pm - 2am) you will want to check out Ryans on the Beach. It is a great bar, quite small but staff speak English, drinks are great and they do the best Sex on the Beach in there for just 4EURO! (Food is also served untill 1am and its good also).
If you fancey something different, check out Chupitos! It is a shots bar about 10 minutes from the waterfront clubs (i will explain them in a minute). They only serve cocktails and shots (Get a bob marley shot, they are the best), well worth the experience but you usually end up spending quite abit in there.
Afterwards, the big clubs are always the best to dance the night away. Walk along the beach for 10 minutes and you will come to 3 main clubs. Catwalk, Shokuo and Opium. All are very big (+3000 people), i personally disagree with Catwalk as there are a few racial issues going on. Blacks are not allowed on the downstairs dancefloor. (guys will need to pay roughly 15 EURO to get into any big club, girls are usually free).
If none of these seem your thing, you can check out Boulivard at the bottom of Las Ramblas, the ratio is something like 7 girls to every 1 guy which is great, but not so great if your with your partners LOL.

MILK - don't do it!
by xstacey
I should have no by the puzzled look of our server that milk isn't something they would drink unless it was in your coffee... well, I ignored it. I thought maybe he was giving me funny looks because I'm not 12 and was ordering a glass of milk with my breakfast. It came to me warm and had a strange consistancy and horrible taste. Maybe the server was being tricky but i will never order milk again.
La Ciutadella
by hamouras
La Ciutadella This is a small area of Barcelona by the sea. It is very beautiful and people that live there are very friendly. You can find small bars where you can have a drink and meet some people.
If you go towards the sea you can also find the marina of Barcelona which is also a very good spot for a nice walk under the sun.
Candles
by SirRichard
When you enter in the Cathedral you will find at your left a lot of red candles with a few texts in each group of them.
They are offered to certain saints asking for some favours and prays.
People buy the candle in a nearby counter, and light the candle to the saint they choose.
They make a very aesthetic image in those dark gothic churches...
Camp Nou
by elise_crash
Home to the great team, Barca FC, this is a must see for every football (soccer) fan! One of the biggest (capacity 98,000+) most beautiful pitches currently in use, Camp Nou is an excellent place to watch a match and spend some time with the true residents of Barcelona! Depending on the match, you can usually get a ticket for between US$35 - US$60. And don't worry about getting cheap tickets - anywhere you sit is a great view. You should be able to ask almost anybody in the city for directions. You can take the underground subway near the stadium (sorry, I don't remember the name of the stop), but you must walk a couple blocks from there. Depending on where you are staying and how late you get out of the match, I would suggest getting a cab back. They are cheap and you can find them all over the city - just look for the green light atop the car.

Sitges. Behind Esglesia del Evangelista (picture) on C. Fonollar, the Museu Cau Ferrat hangs over the water's edge. Also the Museu Maricel del Mar has a selective collection of medieval painting and sculpture.
