Bicing bike

by Dmitry44

Is there way to rent bicing bikes for tourist?
Yes, I know there are many small rent companies.

There are many different bicycle rental companies in Barcelona. Your hotel may be able to help you make the reservation. In the interim, here are some options:
- Barcelona Bici - T 93-285-38-32 (at Placa de Catalunya, Mirador de Colom or Pg Joan de Borbo)
- Bike Tours Barcelona - T 93-268-21-05 (at Espaseria, 3), www.bicicletabarcelona.com
- Classic Bikes Barcelona - T 93-317-19-70 (at Tallers, 45), www.barcelonarentbikes.com

Most bike rentals will run you 5 Euro per hour or 15 - 18 Euro per day.

You can also get bike lane maps at the Tourist Information Office (one at Placa de Catalunya, 17) or at your rental shop.

Yes I know about other rental companies, as I said before.
But bicing is more convinient, they have so many points and prices very low. I think the small companies is the main reason why bicing doesn't allow rent for tourist.
Shame on you - BARCELONA!

Sorry, I misunderstood!

I think you're a bit stuck by their policies. I looked at their website again and, you were right, they designed it for locals and redirect tourists and such to the BCN city site and a list of bicycle providers.

Sorry again that I missed the mark. I hope it works out for you!

Dmitry44, Bicing is an idea of the Town Hall,
as a complimanary to public transport, meant in its definition to do short distances eg to/from metro stations when you go to work.
Like CHristineintheworld mentioned,
you need a Spanish ID number (DNI) or the one of have registered as a foreigner-resident: 6 month + (NIE). Taxes etc ...
I am sorry the difference between a tourist and a resident is so frustrating (lol :)
if it's a consolation I assure you it is not a perfect system even within the limits of the rules.
Low prices ? May be in long term - mind you pay 30 euros at the beginning/ register,
for that amount you can rent a non-bicing bike for 3 days, not 2 hrs (or buy a second-hand one, lol , right, without a chain...)

May be in the future Ajuntament will have bicing-4-tourists, but I bet rent-a-bike shops will not be able to set the price and it will not be much lower.

I found that in 2007 Bicing decided to add new weekly subscription for tourists but it was canceled by result of resist other rent companies. So it was political decision.

Travel Tips for Barcelona

Architectural details

by bzh

When you wander around Barcelona, make sure you're attentive to details. Let your eyes wander up and down buildings and you could be rewarded by spotting some amazing architectural details you would have missed otherwise. Take your time, enjoy the place, there is no hurry.

The legality of it...

by caribou_ire

Would you believe that it's legal to have marijuana plants growing in your house in Spain?! Anyone (over 18 i presume) is allowed possess 2 pot(t) plants of the marijuana variety!
While in Spain i dipped my proverbial finger into green paint, and began my own career as as horticulture-er.

Travel Light

by listenandlearn

Bring as little as possible Bring only light clothing, wash and wear thing, flip-flats, only essential things. Toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, bar soap, a traveling towel...will write longer later. Digital Camera, spare batteries. Beach towel, sun block cream and will write longer later. A notebook to write your travel journal.

c/ Verdi, Great Place to Start the Night

by jhoolko

Instead of going back to the regular areas around Las Ramblas and the Barri Gotic, head into Gracia for a change. On c/ Verdi (metro Fontana) and the surrounding streets, you will get a very different vibe than the more central parts of the city, with a slew of restaraunts and theaters to choose from. Many of the films are shown in their Original Version (VO) with Castellano or Catalan subtitles. If you have a craving for Mexican food, restaraunts abound here, at least three of them serving Mexican fare (though I can't make any promises about authenticity!) You have a ton of choices, from Egyptian, to Lebanese, to typical Catalan, and it's very lively without the tourist factor that many of Barcelona's other happening areas seem to possess. I would highly recommend it for a night out with a loved one. Its a great place to meander down the smaller side-streets on a quiet walk and happening upon a small restaraunt or pleasant placa.
