Euro Night (EN TrenHotel) from Barcelona to Milano

by ytang

I intend to travel from Barcelona to Milano by direct night train.

Train schedule shows EN train start from Barcelona, but RENFE ticketing site only allow booking from Girona Station.

Does anyone know why?

I just did a dummy booking for a random date in October, and there was no problem selecting departure from Barcelona.

Maybe a temporary glitch?

Finally it works somehow when I hit the previous/Next button.

Hope that the departure from Barcelona is correct.

Thanks.

Hi

Good that the glitch is gone.

One question though:

why you want to take the trenhotel?

there are excellent options by air
and lot cheaper than trenhotel.

We flew to Venice from Barcelona
on Sep 16th with Spanair for Euro 51.
Milan is even cheaper.

Just my 2 cents worth :)

Probably wasn't a glitch. Just bad design. RENFE's site is abominable. I still have trouble navigating it, and end up bookmarking the pages I use the most, to avoid future confusion.

The TrenHotels leave from French Station(Estaçio França). Please report back on whether it was worth the money. Very curious, and looked into it for my last trip to Paris.

I paid about 80Euro for T4 TrenHotel from Barcelona to Milano. I like sleep in train, save time and money also. I thought of flying to Treviso near venice with RyanAir, but frighten by the bad experience by other commuters with RyanAir.

Is it alright with Spanair

I booked this train from Eurail, T4 cost about 80Euro, cheaper than Renfe. Probably is on promotion, I think.

Will update you after my experience.

Spanair was very good
left Barcelona on time
arrived venice on time

No frills though

no free food or drink

But 51 euro from Barcelona
to Venice...............

Sounds like a good deal for 51 Euro. May I know which airport SpainAir land in Venice.

The regular Airport - Marco Polo - and you get a fast bus with luggage facility underneath from there to Plaza Roma for Euro 3.

Travel Tips for Barcelona

Stroll through the Gothic quarter

by alisonr

We stumbled upon this area by accident. It is certainly a maze of twising and winding streets, punctuated by little squares filled with pigeons, quaint book shops and most importantly, bakeries! Mmmm, yum yum! This certainly was a pretty relaxing area, with not too many tourists, but still the pick pockets and gypsies!

Visit La Boqueria, the most...

by mauro_pd

Visit La Boqueria, the most famous open-air market in Barcelona ... if you know Montalban's hero (el senor Carvalho) and impressive recipes this is the place you can't miss !!! If you never heard about Manuel Vazquez Montalban (in the picture here below) visit this market and THEN read one of his books ... I can ensure that you'll get the feeling. Tapas Bar, nothing similar in Italy ... :-((

Newspapers and Media

by tino_world

The main newspaper in Barcelona are La Vanguardia, El Pais and El Periodico in Spanish. They are also Catalan newspaper, such as Avui and the Catalan version of el Periodico. The newspaper costs around 1 Euro, but on Sundays and when there is a special supplement the price can rise to 2 Euro or more. You can find daily newspapers from around the world at most centrally located newspaper kiosks.

Palau Sant Jordi

by acemj

Palau Sant Jordi is a 12,000 seat venue that was designed for the '92 Olympic Games up on Montjuic. The architectural design resembles a wave because this is where the swimming events took place (as well as gymnastics). Today, it's used for many sporting events including basketball and motocross and also has held concerts for artists such as U2. For a price, you can swim here, but I'm not sure of all the details.

Nice buildings

by Rupanworld

Please excuse my ignorance but I really don't know what these buildings are. While you walk down the Ramblas towards the port, you find them to your left just before reaching the Columbus monument. the buildings appealed to me and I took the photos. I would appreciate if somebody tells me what they are for.
