Don't miss the Neu Camp, it's too big anyway.
by JohnnySpangles
Go see the Neu Camp Stadium, it's the biggest footy ground in Europe. There are some wondrous sights in the world but the sight of this shrine to the glorious game brings tears to your ears. You also get a tour of the FC Barcelona Trophy room (not cabinet). Just turn up and, for a nominal fee, they'll let you roam the stadium. Warning: Don't attempt any silverware theft as the Spanish police can overreact a bit. I lost my leg in the ensuing skirmish.
Another breathtaking panorama...
by Pegasus74
Another breathtaking panorama of Barcelona can be snapshot from Montjuic Hill, where the 1992 Olympics were held. The top is ascendable via funicular and cable car from the waterfront. Apart from the Olympic Center, there are also several important museums including the National Museum of Catalan Art and the Archaeological Museum.
Barcelona is literally as gorgeous as what I had imagined it to be. I will be looking forward to go back again, to take in the sights, sounds and smells of this brilliant city. If this is one of where you plan to stopover, you sure have planned to make a home run.
HOME COOKING PAELLA
by listenandlearn
CONTINUATION OF OUR HOME COOKING PAELLA:
4.Heat another 3 tablespoons of oil in the paella pan. Add the onions & cook for 2 minutes, then add the garlic & paprika & cook for an additional 3 minutes until the onions are soft but not brown.
5.Add the drained rice, beans, peas to the paella pan & stir until coated in oil. Return the chicken thighs and chorizo & any accumulated juices to the casserole. Stir in the stock saffron liquid, salt, pepper and let it boil while stirring.
6.Reduce heat let it simmer without stirring for 15 minutes * or until the rice is almost tender - most of the liquid has been absorbed.
7.Arrange the mussels, shrimps, sweet pepper strips on top. Cover the casserole - continue simmering without stirring for about 5 minutes until the shrimps become pink, the mussel’s open.
8.Discard any mussels that are not open. Taste & adjust the seasoning. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve at once.
PLEASE NOTE: Unlike risotto, the rice for a good paella is not & NEVER sticky with sauce, yet each grain should be moist with olive oil.
Stirring disrupts the way the rice cooks. Gradually lowering the heat as the liquid reduces, and giving the paella pan a shake, will help to prevent the rice sticking.
champaneria
by racheljapi
Located near the beach in Barcelona, the Champaneria is always packed during warm weather. Come into this place, buy a tapa and then purchase a bottle of champaign for 4.5 euros. It's in Barceloneta. You will have to ask around for directions, but trust me, it's worth it!
