Hostal Apolo

I got lost looking for Pension Peiro bec. the sign was actually Hostal Apolo w/c is the same or on the same building with same owner. I think I stayed at the pension part (Pension Peiro), not the hostel part. Not sure though but specify an ensuite room if you need it.

Except for the window that opens up to the inside of the building in the room they gave me (no view so close it permanently) - I've got no negative stuff to say about Hostal Apolo slash Pension Peiro. Recently renovated slash refurbished slash repainted. I always smell the clean antiseptic they're maybe wiping on the floor everyday. Ensuite clean toilet shower, new light-blue painted room, comfortable bed, tv on wall, big cabinet with many drawers for ur stuff. My room is on the 1st floor, 2 floors from the ground by elevator. Very safe environ and building - key for the main gate also for the floor main door and your room door - how safe was that. Free internet connection in room.

Location is about 10-minute or less walk to Plaza Reial (central) and the gothic quarter, and La Rambla, 2-min walk to Metro station Parallel, Familia Sagrada is few minutes by metro, everything is reachable.

The reception guy who greeted me was friendly and helpful - Federico, Enrico, Eduardo - seriously I forgot the name, but he was very enthusiastic and welcoming.

It's a room/apartment type, so you keep your privacy. There is a vending machine on the mezzanine/reception floor for drinks and nibbles.

I'll be coming back to Barca for sure and definitely staying again here. Free map of the city and this budget place is highly recommended.

BTW, I booked it through Barcelona30.com at Euro24/night, breakfast not included.

Unique Quality: clean budget ensuite single room and friendly staff.

Directions: walk up at the bac k of the metro parallel, turn left on the first street and right and there it is at Lafont.

This is a great place with clean rooms, friendly staff and a nice view of the quiet street outside.
It's well within walking distance of the bottom of Las Ramblas and has several good priced restaurants, serving good food, nearby.

One warning though - it's quite easy to miss it from the street outside. It looks like a set of apartments ( and it used to be).
