The Old Town or Ciudad Vieja
by hamouras
The Old Town or Ciudad Vieja It is where I used to live as a student. It is a very lively area. While walking in the streets and alleys of the old town you will find a lot of shops and cafes. The buildings are quite old but they make a really nice atmosphere.
Go with some vocab... you'll be glad you did...
by ginettissima
I concur with all the other VT tippers who suggest getting to know some of the local language before going to Barcelona. I don't speak Spanish, but I do speak other Romance languages, and that helped me tremendously just in the sense that I understood most of what was spoken or written. Without that, it would have been hard to manage as not everyone speaks English. Go knowing some words and phrases and Spanish and Catalan.
Packing List
by DanielF
Weather in Barcelona is mild and sunny during the winter, but in summer it can get really hot and humid. In Autumn it is often very rainy. I am sure you will buy a lot of things in Barcelona, so leave enough room in your case or simply buy a new one in Barcelona. This is a picture of the passerelle that connects la Rambla with a shopping mall in the port.
Finca Guell.
by Maurizioago
This estate was built between 1884 and 1887. Gaudì designed the stables and the porter's lodge.
Visits are not permitted, but you can enjoy the wrought iron gate (the dragon!)
Finca Guell is located in Avinguida de Pedralbes, 7. It is not far from the Palau Reial de Pedralbes (see tip).
Popular Mango!
by listenandlearn about Department Stores / Malls
Well here we are at one of the favourite department stores of tourists as well as the locals! I love shopping here at Mango, it´s just the place to try on all those fashionable clothes, so much sale through out the summer. Tops, pants, pocketbooks, skirts, heavy jackets, name any clothing you would need and you would find it in Mango. On a trip or a vist at Mango, specially those people that do not have a Mango store in their country they can spend at least between 300 to 400 Euros. It´s okay as it´s all worth it...
