Hostal Central
Enjoyed my stay at Hostal Central. It is located in the University District of Barcelona City Centre, and is very safe to walk around the area at anytime of day. Located across the road for all those travellers missing home is an Irish Bar. Its within a two minute walk of a metro stop which goes direct to Las Ramblas. You could also walk for 5-10minutes from the hostel to the Las Ramblas.
The Hostel is clean, safe, and well maintained. The nightmanager was especially helpful, he gave me and my girlfriend important tips on seeing Barcelona on a budget. He organised a taxi for us at 3am!
Free internet is provided, as is free tea and coffee.
We found the price for a double room to be very cheap compared to other hostels in Europe and as stated, we enjoyed our 3night stay.

Anyone who has stayed at hostal central in Ronda Universitat by las ramblas? Do they have a homepage or an e-mail address? And do the rooms have have air-conditioning? Will you recommend the hostel?

I don't think this is the same hostal central as I am interested in ;) There must be two hostals with the same name in barcelona..
