Hostel next to Ramblas and Pla?a del Rei
by KenBel about Hostal Fernando
It is quite a basic hostel, but it is very well located and the rooms are clean and have fans, which is probably their most important feature, hehehe !!!
..... And the price is right!! Book early though, cause it fills up quite quickly!!
The best hostel in town
by backpackerbaby about Hostal Fernando
Except those stupid crazy drunkies who kept running to and fro on the corridor and non-stop knocking on our roomdoor on the first night, except those super-tidy Japanese girl room-mates who MUST tidy up their belongings in PLASTIC BAGS with non-stop locking/unlocking their lockers no matter how late and how early it was, I was super satisfied with my stay at Hostal Fernando. ~
Pros:
1. Cheap but nice dormbeds: 16.5 Euros per night in a 6-bed dormroom with shared bathrooms, no breakfast.
2. Excellent location: a few minutes to La Ramblar and Liceu Metro.
3. Super clean everywhere.
4. Excellent shower facilities: good water pressure, real hot water, clean without drain blockage.
5. A small kitchen available.
6. English speaking staff.
7. Spacious dormrooms with huge lockers provided. The small balcony was also very lovely.
Cons:
1. Noise from the street at night was unavoidable.
2. Staff too cool.
3. Need to pay for leaving luggage on the day of check-out.
No complaints

Hostal Fernando - and possible others?
by faithisle
Hi everyone,
I am looking up rooms for June 3-6 and so far it seems only Hostal Fernando by La Ramblas(from my shortlist of budget hotels) is available. I will travel with two friends and the complicated part is that we're leaving on three different days. At this point, it must be difficult to find a place that has our specific room types for the exact dates, i.e. triple for the first night, double for the second, and a single for nights 3 and 4. I'm looking primarily at the areas of Eixample, Barri Gotic and perhaps Ribera and Gracia.
Has anyone stayed at Fernando before? Any comments or things I should be aware of before making the reservation?
Also, any other suggestions for rooms that come up to less than EUR30 per person per night (the lower the better)? Especially from travellers who have rooms booked on these days and know their accomodation is still open...
Thanks in advance!

I don't know about New Years eve (I've never been there for that) but a good bar in general is Ribborn. I have more info on my page!
Have fun!

Ciao! I'll also be in barcelona for new years. I heard that Razamatazz is a good club to spend New Years Eve.

Right at midnight a large group gathers in Plaza Catalunya, after that nearly every club has some sort of New years celebration going on although it will definitly cost more than usual.
anyone in BCN right now?
