The black, white and green cat of the Raval
Clean and pleasant Hostal with friendly and helpful staff. Each room is cleaned daily, and has a fan, sink, and television; some double rooms have en suite facilities. There is a computer available for internet access in the reception. It was free when I was there.
It's only a few minutes walk from the Ramblas. I felt perfectly safe the whole time walking to and from the hostal, and having been at the Sónar festival I was sometimes walking back at around 5 or 6 in the morning. It's away from the main noise of the Ramblas and there isn't much traffic down the street, though there are a few local bars along the road which can be a little noisy.
If you're going to the Sónar festival, it's perfectly placed for the daytime - it's right next door to MACBA and the CCCB, where the festival's daytime component takes place.
In my view it's a little expensive, at least for single travellers. At 37 euros for a single room it's just over 40 dollars per night for the Americans among you. The double rooms are cheaper per person (as ever). There's no doubting it's a nice place to stay with no real faults and on the accommodation alone I can heartily recommend it; but there are cheaper rooms to be had elsewhere.
Unique Quality: They like green in this place - green doors, green windowframes and shutters, green sheets...
