HOSTAL GIRONA
This is a pretty basic place, facilities wise. There are no meals or communal areas and you basically just have your room. I had a single room with ensuite shower/toilet and it also had a TV, ceiling fan and heating. That was all I was looking for really as I'm used to hostels but just wanted a room to myself for once. If you are looking for something fancier or meals provided this isn't the place for you.
I got the impression that its a family run place and it is basically like two seperate flats on the first floor of the building. They have single, double and 4 bed rooms - some ensuite and some internal rooms, such as mine, where the windows look over the inner atrium rather than the street.
I had no complaints other than the "international TV" described on the website being limited to one French channel and a load of Spanish ones!
Unique Quality: The good thing about this place, aside from the price if you are on a budget, is that is it is in a much quieter area of town than if you stay at one of the many places near Las Ramblas or the Barri Gotic where there are a lot of bars and noise at nighttime. Some people like being near that stuff, I just like getting a good nights sleep after sightseeing all day!! It is located within easy walking distance of Las Ramblas and most of the main attractions though. I just walked to most places in the city centre
For me the fact that it was also close to the Estacio del Nord was a bonus as I was flying into Girona Airport and the shuttle buses take you to the bus station there. The hotel is only a 500 m walk from there.

Hostal Girona is perfect for budget travellers
who want fo stay in the inner city.
I had a nice single room for 25 € per night without bathroom. All rooms and the two baths have always been very clean and tiny. Moreover all members of the family are very friendly and helpful.

For the budget conscious - a very comfortable stay
I would definitely recommend this hostel. It is in the less touristy Eixample district and only about 10 minutes walking distance from Catalunya Square. Quiet, clean and affordable.
Unique Quality: The hostel is on the second floor of a huge stone building. The hallway entrance to the building is quite impressive. It was much more fun to come home to this place than a holiday inn.

There are plenty of hotels and...
There are plenty of hotels and pensions in Barcelona to choose from, but if you're a budget traveller, i would suggest the youth hostel or the local hostals/pensions. It's a good idea to book ahead as they are usually full.

I'm thinking of booking to stay here for my trip and the couple of reviews I have seen were positive but just wondering if anyone else has stayed here?
I'm looking for quiet rather than a party place so am I likely to find that here? Is it clean and safe?
