Ikea like hotel rooms near La Sagrada Familia

I stayed at Hostal Hostemplo in Barcelona for 3 nights in May 2010. Good efficient modern hotel with Ikea-like furnishings. In-room bathroom with standup shower and digital central air and heating system. Free wifi throughout the hotel. Has small elevator to make luggage carrying easier.

The room I booked is a single for one person, and from the pictures I have it seems tight, but it suits my needs.

The Hostal Hostemplo is a few blocks away from Sagrada Familia so it's convenient to line up before it opens to avoid the crowd. It's a 4 stop metro ride with transfer to Plaza Catalunya. I do miss being near the city center since I stayed near Plaza Catalunya for the first 3 days of my trip but with the fast efficient subway system it's fine.

www.hostemplo.com is the hotel's website but I reserved through www.booking.com since I was researching and comparing Barcelona accomodations through that website.

Carlos is the person who checked me in. He will remind you to settle the bill before your checkout date since he is not there the whole day.

Luggage storage at Barcelona airport

by ashwini62

Hi VT members
Was wondering if you have any ideas about storing luggage for 2-3 days at Barcelona airport and if so, what are the daily charges?
Many Thanks
Ashwini

Airport website:

http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite?cid=1045569607459&pagename=subHome&Language=EN_GB&SiteName=BCN&c=Page

Click on 'Passenger services'in the left-hand menu, then 'luggage', then select 'other' from the drop-down menu by 'Category'.

It says there is a left lugggage facility in the car park opposite Terminal B

'Charge for all or part of each 24 hour period: large locker (50x80x90 cm), €4.90; medium locker (35x80x60 cm), €4.40; small locker (35x80x45 cm), €3.80.'

Travel Tips for Barcelona

free theater

by belgianchocolate

Well , Barcelona , just as any other big city has his street artist. You'll find most of them at the end of the ramblas. They are a real joy to watch and in the evening mostly little bands come here to play - sometimes with a professial instalation. Since the barcie are happy people they even like to dance..

I liked this artist. He is hilarious. He only makes a lot of noice and spins the dolls..

Olympic Stadium

by grayfo

The Estadi Olimpic was the venue for the 1992 Olympic games and is now one of the most popular athletic facilities in Barcelona, and is open to visitors to take a look around and see where all the action took place. The Stadium is actually a redesigned version of a previous one that was located at the site since 1929. The Olympic Stadium also hosts a variety of events, both athletic and social. Nowadays Espanyol from the Spanish First Division play football matches at the stadium.

Shopping During the Month Of AUGUST!

by listenandlearn about Speciality Shops

August happens to be the month for the local people, because it's fairly hot about 30 celcius or a bit hotter, locals would go to the provinces, by the water or up in the mountain where it's coller...per say. So, not that the weather is fairly hot that stores closes, the truth is because it's the holiday break locals choose to be away from their business. However, like El Corte Ingles remains open nearly all year round, the major feastas such as Dec. 25, Jan. 1 and few more important feastas the dept. store El Corte Ingles close. If your into going outlets, there are few of them although they are outside Barcelona, so, you probably need a car. Also, a bit more information as you sound like you enjoy shopping, all month of July, we do have big time sales in all major stores, at times you will come across 50% off the selling price. Have a great time here in Barcelona! Enjoy your holiday although always keep extra precaution as we do have incredibly professional pickpocketers...pretending to be tourists and sometimes they like to pretend to be speaking French or other language but Catalan or Spanish...so wear a moneybelt and know your surroundings. Make copies of your passports, your credit cards and any important documents you may have, make copies of it. Have a ball and have a safe wonderful memorable holiday here! cheers!
