Arrival at the airport!...
Arrival at the airport! Cleaning crews were on strike and the airport hall was covered with shredded paper! This first impression told us, that this town was an original and certainly no boring town.

my wife and i took a taxi from our hotel in barcelona city center to the barcelona airport and the cab driver said there was an airport fee that equated to $10USD. the "fee" did not show up on the meter. i knew there was some chance that i was being lied to but between not having good communication skills and not caring enough to engage in conflict i just paid it. did i get taken?
Here you have the official taxi fares:
http://www.taxibarcelona.cat/tabid/3479/Default.aspx
The airport fee is 3.10 €
Plus 1€ per piece of luggage
Plus other supplements that may apply (night, festives...)
These are added at the end of the ride to what the taximeter shows.
$10 ~ 6.50 €... so, if you had a few pieces of luggage it was ok. If you had no luggage, you were 'taken' only about 3€...
The fee usually only applies to taxis picking up FROM the airport and not going to the airport. I said usually as cabbies have the choice if they want to stay at the airport or "dead head" back to city or where ever, but I have not been to Barcelona airport.
Here in Barcelona the 3.10 € fee applies both from and to the airport.
I stand corrected - thanks.
Thanks guys. Well, in that case, our trip to Barcelona was perfect!

The alleys of the Bario Gothic offer the visitor who wishes to discover the other face of Barcelona, a vision on the striking contrasts of this city. In this district, always lived the most miserable laborious populations of the city. Here, the streets look like cut stuffs, and the tourist will be able to seem to be going to degrade in a quarter hulls gray and room. The truth is also to read in these dirty, smelling and sad alleys : the reality of an inhuman world that constantly runs after the productivity and that lets more and more living being on the side of the road, in misery, after having exploited them to the maximum.
You see how the columns are made like a tree. A column with a square section, bifurcate in 4 branches also with a square section... it seems a fractal stuture... I wonder if Gaudi knew something about fratal objects...
Off of las ramblas there is so many little streets, i found them so interesting, and as i am a student photographer, these were perfect.. We found many shops and little cafes, all down las ramblas. Go and explore :)
