Hotel Query

by mgstarr

I am going to Barcelona on December 4th and have booked in the Hotel Call in the Gothic Quarter. Could anyone tell me anything about this hotel?
Also Barcelona F.C. are at home and will probably be playing on the Saturday night. If we land at 5 p.m. will we be able to get tickets for the game?

Thanks to anyone who replies.
Mick

I have just returned from Barcelona. Barca were playing Real Madrid on Saturday and won 3-0. The Barcelona fans went crazy and the atmosphere was fantastic. We looked at buying tickets but they were astronomically priced so we watched the game in a pub with all the Barca fans and had a great time. The Ramblas seemed to be the meeting place for all the ecstatic fans and a good time was had by all. Barcelona is a great city. We stayed in the Barri Gotic - didn't see your hotel but am sure that you will be out and about most of the time. Enjoy, and do visit The Casa Batlo, Gaudi's masterpiece. It is totally amazing. Hope you have a great time - sure you will!

Early Departure

Our flight leaves the Barcelona airport at 6:25am. We are staying in the city the night before. What is the best way to get to the airport at such an early hour? Thanks. Valorie

Have your hotel call a taxi (perhaps even the night before).

Hi Valorie,

Yes, you MUST ask for a taxi the night before. You will have no public transport available so early, and of course there will be less taxis around, so you have the risk of waiting a long time if you call the lastminute. Allow about 40 minutes for the trip (from city centre), probably less time at night, but you never know.

I usually use the company "Taxi Mercedes", as the price is the same as any other (all Barcelona taxis have standard prices), but all cars are Mercedes brand, very clean and confortable, and they accept credit cards (you should advise when making the reservation you want to pay with credit card). Their phone number is 933 070 707 (but I don't know if they speak other languages that Catalan and Spanish :-)

Hello Valorie,
There is a four stars hotel near the airport the rate about 100 euros standard double room.
This hotel offers free transportation from and to the airport. You can check the website:
www.hotel-barcelona.com/alfa-aero.html.
Good luck

Well, there are a few more business hotels near the airport (I only can remember now the “Tryp Barcelona Aeropuerto”, another 4*). All of them have rates about 100 euros but sometimes have special offers (not less than 60 euro anyway). And it might be not easy arriving to these hotels from Barcelona centre.

A taxi from the city centre to the airport will cost you about 25 euro, so I do not think it's worth the hassle of changing hotel for the last night.

A taxi.. for sure..

Or you can take a bus (it costs around 3.5 euros) in Plaza Catalunya.. just in front "The Corte Inglés" and it leaves you in the airport:. I guess they start operating at 6:00 am.. but i will take a taxi..
