Best traditional place around!
by JackD94
What a beautiful place!! Me and 2 others got a triple room. Room: 202.
We had a stunning, traditional balcony which over-looked some beautiful Spanish lanes. Yes you can complain about the noise but if you don't like the noise DON'T GO TO A CITY!!!
Beautiful place to stay, the breakfast was basic and wonderful. Very cheap and cheerful. Going back next May!!!
:D
Unique Quality: Traditional Hotel. Beautiful Balcony which overlooked beautiful Spanish lanes.
Beautiful!
Directions: Right on top of LA RAMBLA and extremely close to an amazing shopping center. You can't actually get a better location in Barcelona!

Getting to Barcelona from Yorkshire
by doodybee
hi danny
easyjet have good deals to barcelona on at the moment from East Midlands Airport
ryanair also are offering cheap deals to barcelona area - they fly Doncaster -Sheffield to Girona ( from where you can get a bus into barcelona centre - bookable at the airport -or opt for somewhere like callela or pineda de mar on the coast - you can book resorthoppa to these places)
Shouldn't be too difficult to get to either of these airports from your place-- doncaster does have the better flight times though
check out alpharooms or travel republic for hotels at a decent price -- the more distant your stay the cheaper it gets
if you go to the coast outside barcelona you can have a city/beach holiday in one -- depending on how long you are intending going for
Me i loved Barcelona and want to go back
If you are into Football you need to go to The stadium -- there are tours you can pay for -- not a bad price either -
plenty of nightlife down la ramblas in the centre of barcelona with the Hard Rock Cafe at the top end on Placa Catalyna
If you are staying in Barcelona look at Comercio Hotel - Alpharooms did it for us at a good price - nothing flashy but its just off la ramblas so its very central
Hope you find this useful
Let us know how it goes

Such a lovely city - need to return soon to see some more
Summer In Winter

"Barcelona"
We were in Barcelona 14th - 18th January and it was like summertime for us as we left the UK in downpour that apparently lasted all week - it was still raining when we arrived back into Doncaster Airport and for two pins i would have gladly turned around and gone back to Barcelona
Aw well - back to reality
"Hotel Accommodation & Eating"
Barcelona was great - we stayed at the hotel Comercio just off La Ramblas - which was really handy for everything - we got a good rate from Alpharooms for the hotel. It was functional to say the least but as we didn't spend much time there it served its purpose
On the first night - because of the lateness of our arrival we ate at the Kentucky Fried Chicken place just up the road - as we knew what we would get and it would be edible - after that i refused to eat there as i like to try different things
We found a lovely little cafe doing very cheap sandwiches and plates of salad with such things as tuna, chicken etc - we paid 13euros for 2 x meals and drinks - cannot for the life of me think of the name of the place but we think it was a student haunt because of the prices and the clientele in there - it was up a side street nearly opposite where the lobsteri s on the beachfront ( if thats any help) - we also ate at an indian restuarant ( little on the dear side compard to other places we ate) on the front near the lobster and at an all you can eat salad bar which we found on the back street near the hotel
All in all it was much cheaper to eat and drink here than in Paris- we paid 4.50euros for a large San Miguel in the international bar in La Ramblas as opposed to 14.5euros for a large Kronenburg in Paris last year
"Sightseeing"
We walked across to the Marina area and spent time in the Aquarium and the shopping centre there and walked to the zoo.
We got the tourist bus around the City and spent time at the Sagada Familia and the Nou Camp and at Placa Cataluyna
We both agree it is a place we could live and will be heading back although probably not at the same time of year

cheap accommodation

Does anybody know and recommend cheap but clean B&B or room only in Barcelona - close to the Centre for about two nights. What is the situation re. park and ride facilities in Barcelona.

I found the Aneta hotel just off Las Ramblas at www.bestbudgetrooms.com This is a 1 star budget hotel for Euro 50 per night. Since Barcelona is quite expensive, I think that is a good deal for a hotel in the city centre

I liked the Hotel Urquinaona very much. A budget hotel, inexpensive, clean and safe.
Take a look here:

and here for details on the hotel:

Have fun!

Some budget places in Barcelona are pretty rough (rooms without window, old and uncomfortable beds, noise).
My current favourite (for low cost accomodation) goes to Hostal Bahia, one minute from Plaza Cataluna, just off Ramblas.
Also check the many recommendations made in the VT Barcelona Forum.
