SHOP TILL YOUR FEET SEEM TO KILL YOU......
by eden_teuling
The FLEA MARKET (on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays) "LOS ENCANTES" takes place on the Plaça de Glòries.
If you are curious as I am you surely will go there at least once....
In the CALLE BISBAL (Ciutad Vella) near the Cathedral you will find lots of very nice things: dolls, papier-machée masks, glass and earthenware.
Beeswax candles, a local speciality, you can buy at SUBIRA CERERIA in BAIXADA LIBERTARIA 7. (founded in 1761!!). JUST BEING THERE, FEELING FREE AND ENJOY SUN, WARMTH, KIND PEOPLE AND MUCH MORE......and walking the RAMBLAS each morning before breakfast!
Children's festival parade
by scottishvisitor
While wandering around the Gothic district we came upon a colourful children's parade. The narrow streets were filled with music and Giant Characters and the many children who followed behind. The children and characters then assembled in the square where sweets were given out to everyone. The Parade and party was very atmospheric and it was a joy to see the delight on the faces of the children - even though I had no idea what the parade was about.
Comfy shoes

Basically, you can get everywhere by metro, however, if you want to see all the great sights of the city, you'll have to do it by foot. So bring your most comfortable shoes, you're gonna need them, believe me!!!
Archivo De La Corona Del Aragón

We were strolling around to find interesting place. Then we find a nice courtyard and stepped in. How lucky we were! We find these:
I learned that this building is Palau del Lloctinent. The sculptures seemed familiar to me. I'll keep searching.
The shiny spot on the picture is a hand-shaped. People cannot resist touching it. This is why it shines. I am not sure there is some kind of superstition in this case.
TIPS PARA IR DE COMPRAS
by eden_teuling about ALL KINDS OF TIP FOR SHOPPING SPREES.....
BARCELONA has always been at the vanguard, as a City, and undoubtedly, is considere one of the World's design Capitals.
No wonder then, that pioneer in the worldwide movement of midernisation and renewal of retailing, the City became a great SHOPPING-CITY in the last few years, with a very complete and competitive offer, very personal and original in lots of sectors.
(Fashion, design-object, typical products etc.)
To go shopping in Barcelona even if you don't buy a thing is a real pleasure for the lively crownd, the helpfulness and friendliness of the shopkeepers, for the shops themselves and for the easiness of a human-sized City where the shopping areas are easily identified, following the FAMOUS SHOPPING-LINE.
Along the "LINE" the shopping areas are easy to define: C.Pelai and Rda. Universitat are quite popular.
Down Pl. Catalunya, the maze of little streets of Portal de l'Angel, Porta Ferrissa and C.del Pi are full of little original and good balue shops. More chic are Pg. de Gracia, Rbl. Catalunya and adjacent streets as well as Diagonal, from Pg. de Gracia to Pl. Francesc Macia and on, through l'Illa Diagonal up to El Corte Ingles.
Of course you will make even better purchases during special periods, such as Christmas or...during the SALES (REBAJAS / REBAIXES in Catalan) whatever you have to pay!!!!!
