There are many all over. You'll just have to hunt for them. If you find yourself down near the Cathedral, look up El Meson de Cafe on Baixada de la Llibreteria near Plaza Sant Jaume. It is a small cafe/bar that has been in operation for 100 years or more. Great coffee; order a "tallat" or "cortado." You can bring pastries in from a nearby bakery.

Hola,

Here you have some of my personal choices.

"Can Punyetes"
The most authentic catalonian restaurant that I know in Barcelona and it's not expensive. There are some of them, but I recommend to go to C/Francisco Giner, 8. Then, you can visit also the Gracia District, that was an independent town in the past and it still has it's own personality.

"Origens 99'9%"

It's perfect for tasting different dishes, as they're small and cheap (almost like tapas). The menú it's a magazine that you can take to yourself. I always go to the one that it's in Passeig del Born, just besides the church of Santa Maria del Mar.

"Julivert Meu"

It's a little bit expensive but it's at the heart of the old city and the food have an excepcional quality, ask to the waiters for doing the best choices of the menu.

Extra advise -> From Monday to Fiday, at midday, in Spain you can choose the dishes from the "Carta", that it's more expensive, or you can choose the "Menú", that means that there's a little selection of dishes with a closed price that include the starter, the main one, the dessert, the drink and the bread, sometimes they also include the coffe.

Travel Tips for Barcelona

by ciaobob

The RAMBLA is, of course, the best known landmark of Barcelona, and deservedly so. Meandering down from the Pl. de Catalunya to the Columbus statue, filled with newspaper kiosks, flower and animal stalls, and all sorts of artists, it is undoubtedly the place where everyone comes together, both tourists and locals, from the most inconspicuous to the most exaggerated representative of all sorts of urban tribes.

Once you get on the roof, you realize how amazing the building really is. Gaudi has designed abstract figures which are supposed to represent different types of figures. If I remember correctly, these figures are knights and kings and bishops, like a chess set but more political.

Crema Catalana - Catalan Cream Custard

by Danalia

For 6 persons

4 1/2 cup milk
7 egg yolks
1 1/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 stick cinnamon
1/2 lemon, rind

Heat 3 1/2 cups milk with cinnamon stick broken in pieces and lemon rind. Bring to a boil and simmer 5 to 6 minutes. Separate yolks from whites. Add half of remaining cold milk to yolks and beat well. Add rest of cold milk to cornstarch and beat.

Strain boiled milk into clean saucepan. While stirring it constantly over the fire without letting it come to a boil, add in rapid succession 2/3 cup sugar, the egg yolk mixture, and the cornstarch diluted in milk. The custard will thicken quickly. Continue stirring until it is the consistency of a thick cream sauce. Pour at once into six shallow dessert plates.

When custard has cooled to room temperature, sprinkle surface with remaining sugar. Put under hot broiler just long enough to turn sugar an even light brown. Chill cream before serving.

Take a look around

by Pieter11

When you are in the neighbourhood of the Barcelona Cathedral, you have to take a good look around. There are countless beautiful alleys and little squares here to explore. Here you can find the original Barri Gotic and make the most beautiful pictures.

You find everything here!

by Toshioohsako about L'illa shopping mall

There are more than 100 shops here with many cafes and restaurants. You will find both expensive and reasonably-priced articles.

Its also so a wonderful place to visit the restaurants and cafes. Everything you want-clothes, food, sport wear, stationary, and all other things. This is probably the best place for shopping in Barcelona for tourists with limited time.

Open: Monday-Sayurday: 10:00-21:30 As much as you can afford
