View of Las Ramblas from room balcony by monaco05 Having been warned about the standard of budget hotels in Barcelona, I wasn't expecting much. I made the booking online weeks before our holiday, drawn by the low prices compared to other hotels. We arrived at Barcelona airport in the evening, took the Aerobus to Placa de Catalunya. Taking the advice of online travellers, we decided to walk to the Hotel. Not the best idea - the Las Ramblas is crowded in the evenings and the uneven pavements did not help. Also, be warned - there are 20 steps at the entrance that lead up to the reception. Check in was a breeze - the receptionists spoke English and were quite helpful. A few days before arrival, another friend decided to join us so we had to change our room from a double to a triple-sharing room. We emailed the hotel 3 days before our arrival and they managed to get us a room! The room was much bigger than I expected - with one queen sized bed and two single beds. The room had a view of the Las Ramblas (see photo). The toilet was decent - simple and clean. The beds were not as clean as it could have been, but tolerable. The door was in pretty bad condition with what looked like a fist-sized hole on the back. Our friend left after 2 days, while we stayed on for another 3 days. But the hotel was nice enough to let us stay in the same room. It was great having so much space! Location-wise, Husa Internacional cannot be beat - right in the middle of the Las Ramblas, the Liceu Metro station is right outside, Mercat Bouqueria so nearby, so many restaurants, cafes, clubs and shops within walking distance. However, all this also means that it never really gets quiet at night so beware if you are light sleeper. All in all, I guess it was pretty decent for its price. If you're looking for a cheap place to stay right where all the action is - then this is a good choice. Rooms cost around 90 euros per night.
