Festa Major de Gràcia??

by chuck2006

I heard about the Festa Major de Gracia, and I was wondering about the schedule for 2009.

My wife and I will be in Barcelona from Aug 22 to 29, and would like to enjoy any local festivals.

Please let me know if there are any other city festivals around that time.

oh I really hope you will be able to see this very very nice street party!! I was there in 2007 and went back 3 nights to enjoy the people and the street music.
I cant find the proper date right now, but on my page http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/bdaa0/430de/a/ I have a link to their site so you can keep checking to see when it is.
enjoy Barcelona,
Ciao from Italy, Orietta

I found the official link to the Festa Major de Gràcia but it's only written in Catalan. If you can speak French, Italian or Spanish you might understand something.

Travel Tips for Barcelona

by bobuk

See Flamenco dancing. To be honest, it is not my most favourite dancing as I prefer to watch Middle Eastern, South Atlantic or even Irish dancing rather than Flamenco, but that is just my personal taste. Irrespective of this, it is facinating and makes a great night out...along with a jar of Sangria. A good setting for more serious nightlife later on.

Packing List

by Bixente

I was going for one week in Barcelona (first week of May) and the weather was very bad ! 4 or 5 days of rain, so be carreful ! ;o)
Don't say i have not prevent you ... but hopefully, i think this weather was unusual for Spanish people.

Gingerbread House

by easyoar

If you are visiting Parc Guell (see my Must-See tips for details on how to get there), there is a tall hill to the side, which you can climb up to an observation point and get excellent views into the city.

Whilst climbing this hill, there are numerous points where you can stop off and look into Parc Guell and get some great views of this too. This Gaudi designed house reminds me of a Gingerbread House, and almost looks like you could eat it!

music of BCN's street musicians

by chicabonita about Souvenirs

On Sunday several bands played on the water front. The one in the picture I specially liked. They were selling a CD which was produced by Manu Chao together with several street musicians.

If I remember correctly the CD costs EUR 10 but very well spent money. On of my favourite songs of the CD is "Ke No La" from "Manana Me Chanto"
