Kabul Hostel

This place has been running for years. There is a reason for this - it has and does everything a hostel should. It has a great location - just off Las Rambas. In addition to this the rooms are good, security is excellent and there is free wi-fi. Dinner is included in the price. There is a massive common room on the reception floor with a free POOL TABLE. There are many bars and clubs in Placa Reial itself meaning that you are right in the centre of the action.

one of the best hostels

what makes this one of the best hostels is the feeling of people actually enjoying their jobs. there is nothing like being welcomed to a new city by people who are excited, take pride, and are eager to give you local tips on enjoying your stay.
we've all been to the "other" places. this one is clean, there is free internet, beer tickets and a bar, and plenty of like-minded travelers who are ready to have a good time. absolutely the best as far as feeling welcome and appreciated.

One of Europes Top Hostels

Kabul Hostel really is a great hostel to stay at. Although, I was suprised that the bedroom were so bare, and very basic (not much atmosphere)... but the beds are comfortable and the rooms air-conditioned, plus each person gets their own security locker (which is something I always look for in a hostel).

What the hostel lacks in interesting dorm rooms it makes up for with it's cool groups of staff, fun common area and free meals!

Not only is breakfast included, but if you get in early you can also score yourself a free meal for dinner as well! They make meals for dinner (like spicy sausages and rice), but only a certain amount, so it's first come, first served.

There are also 5 computers with internet in the common room, free to use. And a large TV for when sports are on. Heaps of places to sit and relax and a pool table as well.

There are also laundrys and bathrooms on every floor (men and women seperate - bathrooms, not laundry).

You can come and go at any time of day or night that you wish, as you are given an electric key (valid to work for the period of your stay).

Unique Quality: I would say the stand out qualities are the staff and the common room (however, even though alcohol is allowed in the common room/bar - you have to buy it from the bar, you can't BYO).

Also that it is situated in the heart of the city and on the beautiful Placa Reial.

Kabul Hostel

This hostel has a brilliant location (right in Placa Real) and nice clean rooms and bathroom facilities. There is also the usual dining area and internet facilities.
It can be a bit noisy because of the location but if that bugged you you wouldn't be staying in a youth hostel.
Each bed is provided with a large (big enough for a backpack) bedside locker too.

Unique Quality: Brilliant location.

Good Backpacker choice

This hostel is definitely nothing if you're looking for a quiet place to get good sleep. It is very noisy, located on the party square Plaza Real, and it is not perfectly clean. But it is a great budget deal, located very centrally to everything, and one can meet good people.

Youth Hostel

There are a couple of pensions & hostels right off Las Ramblas that are perfect for young tourists. I've stayed in the ones in Plaça Reial. It is right in the part of town you need to be in and they are nice.

Most recently I stayed in Kabul Youth Hostel because we were able to book it online. The people were great there, the rooms were decent, and they have a bar where a lot of the people staying there hang out. There are even 3 Heineken machines there. They look like regular coke machines, except all they have in them are cans of Heineken. We took a picture, but I guess we lost that roll of film because I haven't seen it since we returned. We started out one night at their bar all you can drink & a pub crawl for about 10 euros. It was a lot of fun. Unfortunately there were no great views of Las Ramblas from this hostel. Kabul Youth Hostel has laundry facilities. You will find this hostel to your right in the corner in Plaça Reial.

Previously we went without any reservations & managed to stay at the pension in Plaça Reial. There were 10 of us & we were all able to stay in 2 rooms with balconies overlooking Las Ramblas. When you enter Plaça Reial the pension is to the left in the corner.

There is also an internet café in the area near Plaça Reial.

Travelling Alone

by c-bella

Hi all, just booked a couple of days in Barcelona for the beginning of July, i'm staying at the Kabul Hostel, is this a good choice for a female travelling on her own?? I want to vist the Nou Camp, is there companies that arrange this or do you have to make your own way there? also hoping to bump into my hero Henrik Larsson, anyone seen him around town?!?!?!?! Thanks for the help xx

I was there recently, the hostel is fine, but too smoky for my tastes. It should be safe enough but it IS in a hi crime neighborhood. Be most careful walking in the door with all your luggage, the snatch thieves and pickpockets are thick there on the main road in front of Kabul.

Hi, to get to the Nou Camp is pretty easy. Just grab the blue line to metro stop- Collblanc. Once you've made the short walk to the stadium they do regular tours of the stadium. There's more about it on my Barca page.

I will recommend you Gothic POint Hostel. Gothic is located in a safer area, near from Av. Laietana and with a subway station almost in front of it. You will not have problems with luggage... I don't know where is Kabul Hostel, but I assume it is near Las Ramblas.

Check the website of this place, maybe you can ask for a room just for girls.

If you want to go Nou Camp.. also can take the green line and drop off in "Zona Universitaria".. the last stop.. tha Camp is near from there..
