OK Apartment Barcelona - Sant Pau: Cosy apartment close to the Ramblas

In Barcelona it's difficult to find an affordable accommodation close to the Ramblas, which is absolutely the place to stay. We found this apartment in a side street of the Ramblas and it was a pleasure to stay there. To walk to the Ramblas was about 5 minutes.

Unique Quality: The apartment was fully equipped, with all the needs we had. Kitchen, nice bathroom, etc. When we arrived we were welcomed personally by the owner.

Raval Sector: Apartment in Raval District

It was damp and cool all the time because even though it was at ground level, no sun ever penetrated the apartment. The freezer of the refrigerator was frozen up with ice fully. The stove barely worked being old and electric. The price, though was $75 which is cheap for the area and the city. Everything is expensive and a more reasonable location would have run around $120-180 a night. So we chose low end.

Unique Quality: There was nothing special about the stay in the apartment, other than the mold got to my sinus.

Hotel Jazz: 3 star hotel in the near of Placa Catalunya

Hotel Jazz is a 3 star hotel. It is very modern with central location.
It is offered a panoramic view over the street below.
In the room you can find a flat screen TV, mini-bar and a bathroom.

Unique Quality: In the bar there is free internet too. You can use also a pool on the top of the roof.
The staff are very friendly, helpful.

HCC Montblanc: Central and reasonably comfortable

Unfortunately due to a glitch at another hotel, we found ourselves without a booking on a busy day. To that end, hotels were fully booked and rather pricey. Montblanc still had a few rooms available. While prices were inflated due to the festivities, they were not all that much more than their standard rates.

The hotel staff was nice and spoke several languages to various other guests. The location just on the top of Via Laietana, allows you to walk to almost all of the historical locations, Gottico, Born, Ramblas, etc. within minutes. The metro is also not more than two blocks away.

The rooms were clean, but not in my opinion up to the 3-star standard of the hotel. The curtains were not great and provided very little to stop the bright sun light.

Thankfully the bathrooms were spacious and clean and the other hotel guest either did not make much noise or the walls were sufficient insulated.

Unique Quality: Parking is available at a standard rate of 18Eur for 24/hr multiple entry.
Free WiFi is available.
Breakfast buffet is available for an extra cost depending on your room rate.
The hotel has many large conference rooms.

SILVER APARTHOTEL: Good Accommodation

I chose this Hotel as it was reasonably priced for Barcelona, plus, the reviews were quite good.
Well, it didn’t let me down.

We caught a Taxi from Placa deCatalunya , the fare was only 9 euros in 2011.

It is located in a side street in the Gracia district, near “Casa Vicens.”
The Hotel is security conscious with the only way into the Hotel by the front door which only opens when the Receptionist can see who the guest is.
All of the people behind the counter could speak English, and were very helpful. My husband needed some medication and they were kind enough to write it down in Spanish for him to hand to the Pharmacist.
Our ‘comfort ‘room was located on the 5th floor, and this was reached by either of the two small lifts. It was a large room with a large modern Television, also an area with a sink, crockery, Microwave and Fridge, this we liked very much!
Bathroom had the shower over the bath and a good supply of hot water. Soap, shampoo & skin care were supplied.
We had a large window which overlooked the courtyard where breakfast was served [not included in the price, available for extra 8 euros] and also to flats. The area was very quiet and we enjoyed good sleeps for our 3 nights.

It may not be in the centre, but the location was excellent for us. Fontana metro is a 5min walk away, and a very quick way to get to the city centre, Sagrada Familia Cathedral and Park Guell.
They also have a car park in the same building.
We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend this Hotel on our experience here.
