hotel near la sagrada familia

by mavl

hola,

i'm looking for an inexpensive but decent place to stay that's within reasonable walking distance from la sagrada familia. by inexpensive and decent, i mean clean and hopefully around or below 100 euros for a double room (with private WC and shower).

any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

muchas gracias.

Have you tried this website: http://www.booking.com ?
I find it very useful, since you can have the results of your search sorted according to many parametres, for example from the closest to the centre to the farthest ones or from the cheapest to the most expensive ones.
You must specify the dates of your stay in order to get the prices, because there often are low-cost offers, but they are limited.
I hope this is of some help to you,
Michele

Hi

Is Banys Oriental Hotel - http://www.hotelbanysorientals.com - too far. I think it's around 3.5kms away but still in an excellent location.

Hotel Urquinaona - very centrally located and about a 20-minute walk from the Sagra de Familia (you may also take a short metro ride instead). Stayed there and walked it this year.

Hi, Have you thought about a Barcelona flat rather than a hotel? You have so much more freedom than a hotel, and if you should want to buy & try some of the fantastic local mediterranean fresh produce from the colourful food markets, there is a kitchen & cooker ready & waiting for you in the flat! I always opt for flats rather than hotels!

ramot418, thank you for the suggestion, will check that hotel out.

bcnmorriss, thank you for the option, will look into it as well.

thanks again!

See the Parc Guell, designed by Gaudi and easy to get to on one of the tourist buses that stop at all the major tourist sites. On the day that we were there a 'busker' was playing violin in an colonnaded area - the acoustics were fantastic.

Take a stroll along the Waterfront. A newly built waterfront with a big shopping centre and entertainment centre. There are lots of resturants too. Do try the seafood paella. Paella is considered the national dish of Spain. It is a dish of steam rice. A must try for any visit to Spain.

Great cafes

by acemj

Cafe culture is alive and well. Barcelona has many wonderful sidewalk cafes in which you can sit outside and linger over great food while watching people go by. In the touristy areas, just be ready for some local entertainers who will, of course, expect to be compensated for their sometimes unwanted services.

El Parque de la España Industrial

by Rupanworld

This park is located behind the Barcelona Sants train station. It is an industrial park that is quite different from other parks, but nevertheless it is very popular amongst the city children, youth and elderly alike. To my surprise, I came across some young boys playing Kabaddi (a very indian game) at the park.

A clothes shop like a millionaire's flat

by yelyah99 about Replay

OK, it's Replay. You can buy their jeans and tops in the UK (and they have some cool stuff - I bought a top in this very store), but what's special about this particular store is the design inside. There's a pool. And a hanging dragonfly sculpture thing. And more. You have to go to believe it. Pretend to be interested in the clothes while you discreetly gaze around yourself. But do not bring out your camera - I nearly got my head chopped off by a sales assistant for taking the picture (why?!) They seem to specialise in jeans and stuff, but I love their kitsch dresses and funky tops. My top was about 80 euros (£55) - kind of expensive for a bit of chiffon, but it's really unusual!
